Default Crazy Internet Junkies #61: Maryland Welcomes You

Welcome, Junkies, to the Land of Pleasant Living! Jennifer and I are your hosts.

We have no need of treehouses, because here's our fort:

And here's our shrine, that of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg:

Just around the corner from the National Shrine Grotto of Lourdes at Mt. St. Mary's University.

What are we waiting for? Let's eat some crabs already!

Fantastic. Now that I'm here, I'd better go fold some laundry and get clothes laid out for tomorrow! I'll try to check back in a bit.

That should read:

"What are we waiting for? Let's eat some crabs already, HON!"

And please make sure you observe the Hon dress code:

(50 point bonus if you can guess which one is Jennifer.)

Here, you can use the rotating clothesline from my parents' back yard to dry them next time.

And while we still can, we'd better try our hands at:

Duckpin bowling!

All the duckpin lanes are starting to close up.

I don't believe I've ever heard of duckpin bowling but looks like fun.

Other obligatory stops:

Baltimore's Inner Harbor, home of Harborplace, the Aquarium, the Science Center, the Orioles, and the Ravens.

Fells Point, where "Homicide: Life On The Streets" was filmed. Right next to Little Italy for when you're good and hungry.

Annapolis, the capital and home of the Naval Academy.

Ocean City, where everyone goes sometime during the summer.

And Frederick, the town of the Clustered Spires that lies between two Civil War battles (Antietam and Monocacy).

It's only played in a few areas in the Northeast. The ball is slightly larger than a softball and has no holes. The pins are shorter and more squat, and are spaced farther apart. You can throw the ball straight down the middle and get . . . two.

No one has ever thrown a perfect 300 in duckpins. I would throw both left- and right-handed, not as if it mattered.

Fells Point looks charming, my kind of place And that harbor looks beautiful. I admit I do envy you guys back there, you have richer and older history then we do. I'd love to see it. I love these pictures!

Can you give a bit of history on Maryland?
