Default Exercise support group--week of 5/27!

Greetings and Salutations, everyone! What a beautiful day to declare our goals for the week.

Well, this week will end with my 5K race next Saturday. Yes, it's coming up fast. So my goal for this week is to run 15 miles, not including the race. I started already with a 3 miles run this morning. I decided to run outside, rather than on the treadmill. So I drove down the hill, at least the steepest part. Then ran 1.5 miles down the rest of the hill, and 1.5 miles back up. The last mile was really hard, as it's still a fairly steep grade, and I was pretty spent by then. But I made.

Who's next?

My goal for the week.....is to get to Florida! YAY! Can't believe we are leaving on Thursday.

I will miss you guys this week...probably won't be on as much, but you're always in my thoughts and prayers. I can't wait for the Florida heat...some hate it--I love it. It's great knowing that you're sweating out all those toxins during a workout.

I do plan on working out tomorrow and Tuesday...after that point, my time won't be my own.

Good luck on your goals, people!

Hopefully I will be back to normal and can get back to my 13+ miles daily. I would love to go for 75 in 5.......

I got on the treadmill this morning, and ran 3 miles. So I'm up to 6 miles for the week.

I managed a paltry 6 miles today. Work wasn't too busy and I was helping on Peds.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Here's my plan for the week: swim 7600 yards 2hr55min - bike 1hr40min - run 2hr

Did a really stupid thing today. We were at our summer swim club this afternoon. My family was all gathered together along with in laws and cousins. Our kids were having a great time with their cousins, so my wife and I were going to have a swim to ourselves for a while.

Of course, we couldn't just walk to the pool and take a dip. Instead, we decided to race there, about 100 yards, and then dive in and race a lap. My wife is a way better athlete than I am without even trying, so I really turned it on in the sprint to the pool.

Well about half way there I felt a pain in my thigh. Of course, I couldn't just stop and let her beat me, so I ran harder. And of course, I ended up straining my groin muscle.

What a dumb thing to do.

I think I'll be ok, but I need to go slow this week. Just try to get the workouts in at a low level. I don't think it's pulled, just strained. Lot's of ibuprofen, some stretching, and some ice should do the trick.

Dumb, dumb, dumb... Oh well, I'll get her next time...

utica, I'm proud of you! We men would rather die than let our wives beat us at something physical. Don't feel bad, I'm the same way.

MAJOR fall off the past few weeks. I feel disgusting & embarassed right now. Today begins the start of my normal routine again. My goals (yes I'm actually setting them this week) are less than 2,400 calories each day and 3 intense workouts & 1 moderate workout. Here goes...

Nick, what can we do to support you, and make sure you're meeting your goals?

(BTW, I'll be in Pleasanton the week after next. Is that near you?)

I'm back in San Diego for the week. This should be my last week on this project. So, I got to run my 3 miles this morning along the ocean. Sweet!

If you were here in town I'd tell you to kick my butt, but since you're all the way down south that might be a bit hard. Really, I just need to stop making excuses. I've had some kind of excuse day after day for the past few weeks. So if you see excuses, call me on 'em.

Pleasanton is about 1.5-2 hours from me. I'm about 30 miles East of Sacramento.

Hey Nick - the main thing is you stopped here for some support.
This is a new week - last week is gone. We can only work on the present week so make the most of it.

Time to get strong again - you can do it.
