but the tag pairing is also easily broken.
A post with broken tagging is generally not a catastrophe, but in the case of quotes it is not uncommon for the broken quote to be quoted itself. The result is that posts are being attributed to the wrong person. Not unexpectedly, member complaints increase as well.
It is not possible currently to have the near-bulletproof functionality and error-checking of a desktop word processor inside a web-based editor. So we don't have automatic nested quotes enabled in the editors here. But those familiar with forum BBcode tags can do it if they want.
