Re: Crazy Internet Junkies #65-California
And more nap time information about my lovely State
The California Gold Rush, beginning in 1848, dramatically changed California with an influx of population and an economic boom, and San Francisco became a financial and cultural center. The early part of the 20th century was marked by Los Angeles becoming the center of the entertainment industry, in addition to the growth of a large tourism sector in the state. The Central Valley is home to California's important agricultural industry, the largest of any state..(where I live hehe) Other important industries have included the aerospace and oil industries. In recent decades, California has become a global leader in computers and information technology. If California were a country, its economy would rank among the ten largest in the world, [3] and it would be the 35th largest country by population (behind Kenya).
California climate varies from Mediterranean ( my city is Mediterranean, we don't see rain between the months of May-August..you guys are lucky with your summer storms ) to subarctic. Much of the state has a Mediterranean climate, with cool, rainy winters and dry summers. The cool California Current offshore often creates summer fog near the coast. Further inland, the climate has colder winters and hotter summers. VERY HOT summers!! duh! I'm inland but I have to say we don't get the humidity many of you do..

Religion
The state has the most Roman Catholics of any state, a large Protestant population, a large American Jewish community, and a large, rapidly-growing American Muslim population.

Re: Crazy Internet Junkies #65-California
California, nicknamed the Golden State, entered the Union on September 9th, 1850 as the 31st State. It is the third largest sate, 158,706 sq. mi, and the largest by population, 32 million. The capital is Sacramento (where I grew up ) and it's highest point is Mount Whitney, 14,494 ft.
State Bird: California Valley Ouail
Sate Fish: Cali Golden Trout (yum)
State Tree: Cali Redwood
State Flower: Golden Poppy
State Song: " I love you California"
State Motto: "Eureka" (I have found it) I guess you know what that is

Re: Crazy Internet Junkies #65-California
The California Gold Rush (1848–1855) began on January 24, 1848, when gold was discovered at Sutter's Mill. As news of the discovery spread, some 300,000 people came to California from the rest of the United States and abroad.
Sutters Mill is about an hours drive from us, we've taken the kids up there many times, it's fun I always try and pan for gold a bit when I go there but no luck all gone
