Beatrix female vocals in Portuguese, it sounds like Evanescence, I guess... hehe

http://portalmusicacatolicamp3.blogs.../Expresso%20HG
Expresso HG (its a mix of rock, progressive, pop, ska...)

http://portalmusicacatolicamp3.blogs...20in%20Concert
Heaven's Rock Concert (2 compilations with a lot of Brazilian Catholic Hard Rock, Heavy, Thrash, Death Metal bands)

I also like Illuminandi from Poland.

Prog Heavy Metal Bands with Christian members like Dream Theater, Magnitude 9, Balance of Power...

There's alternative "metal" bands with Christian members, but I dont know if they are Catholic: 12 Stones, August Burns Red, Blindside, P.O.D., etc.

The bio doesn't specify Catholicity, but I can vouch that he's Catholic, and while not all songs are overtly Catholic, all lyrics are careful to be consistent with Catholic teaching.

I can say this with confidence, because he's me.

Does anyone know of any all- women Catholic rock bands?
That would be interesting, as both secular and religious rock genres are overwhelmingly male.

The closest you'll get was the one-time gathering of "Daughters of God", culled together from the top Spiritandsong.com artists, like Sarah Hart, Susan Hoo-Kong Taylor, and Wendy Andino (of Who Do You Say I Am). But it's more "pop/contemporary" than "rock."

Well, don't discount the female-fronted Catholic rock band _Plain Jane_.

I read somewhere that they have disbanded.
Any other Catholic rock bands that have at least one female member?

They did... but their music lives on!

There are some Catholic solo artists with some rock-material.. you may need to listen first on iTunes and choose accordingly:
Wendy Andino or Nellie Cruz (Who Do You Say I Am)
Rachael Lampa
Jenny Pixler
Sarah Bauer
Ceili Rain has a female fiddler (does that count?)

Do you have an account with soundclick.com or any other site that lets you self-publish? That's where I post my music (search for peeb62). Also, I can get my music out there thru my TwoEdgeTalk podcast (see my sig!).

I cannot tell you of any *explicitly* Catholic / Christian metal, but I can recommend some immensely interesting music that I've been listening to for a while now.

One is a Canadian "doom metal" band called Nadja (http://206.123.101.29/~coldsnap/aidan/nadja.htm). While their lyrics are almost completely undecipherable, I doubt they are sacreligious or anything. The first track on "Truth Becomes Death" for instance is based on the Judaic conception of the "Golem," a sort of half-man / half-beast if I recall correctly (too lazy to look it up). The point: this music is *unbelievably* heavy. I'm sure there's heavier, but I can't imagine it personally. Imagine taking shoegazing band My Bloody Valentine, and combining it with Godflesh or something and you get the idea.

The other is the band Jesu (http://www.avalancheinc.co.uk/jesu.html), which is fronted by amazing dude Justin Broaderick of Godflesh (who I just mentioned), Napalm Death, and various other stuff. Cool dude, although I doubt he's a Christian (although, hard to say really). I've had their EP "Silver" in heavy rotation, and I plan to go see them in May in Hamburg (I'm studying in Germany right now).

In case it's not clear, I have a thing for maximal heaviness, with lots of electronics, especially drum machines, and few members. Both of the bands I mentioned are two person bands, but what a racket!

Enjoy and God Bless,
Telemachus
