Anybody here severely effected by the brainwashing that the 70's and 80's did to us? Share your experiences here!

Did you ever watch a movie as a child and wonder why the heck your parents let you watch trash like that growing up? For example...Grease! Did you ever listen to the lyrics to Greased Lightening? What were my parents thinking?

You might be a Generation X'er if you saw all three original Star Wars in the theater.

Anyway, yeah. I was allowed to watch some real garbage. There was also alot of brainwashing in the schools. Like the I-am-loving-and-caring card we wore around our necks. We listened to Free to Be You and Me. Even as a kid it sounded like a blatant propaganda excercise. There was the Susan B. Anthony dollar, which you could take to a bank and exchange for a real dollar. Then there was the attempt to euroweenify us with the metric system. Really. If God had wanted us to use the metric system, Jesus would have had ten disciples.

Not to mention the alphabet would be traded in for the decibet.

I went to Catholic school, so the only bad effects I had were the "Glory and Praise" books. RRRGGGH. Not only did we have to sing from them, but we had to listen to the Glory and Praise recordings in order to learn the music. It was like the Catholic version of "The Weavers". There were positive moments though. I did experience a benediction at one time in my life. Trust me, that was rare, but as a kid I thought it was cool.
