Exercise support group--week of 7/22!
Happy Sunday, everyone. It seems like this past week went by fast, and now it's time to set our goals again.
So, my goals this week are the same as last week: I plan to run 21 miles this week, including a 6 mile long run, which I did this morning. I wanted to finish it within 55 minutes, and my actual time was 54:59.

Re: Exercise support group--week of 7/22!
This week's goals, starting tomorrow.
swim: 2hr50min 8600 yards
bike: bike 2hr25min
run: 3hr10min
This is a recovery/cutback week. Last week was the highest volume I'll do through the rest of this plan up until September 8th.
I'm heading out now with our little guy's for a ride with them in the trailer. We'll head down to a river very near our house for a little fishing.
Then through late tonight I'll watch some friends and plenty of other folks finish up their Ironman Lake Placid race.

Brisk walk tonight for 2 miles. Hope to increase as the week trudges forward. Have a blessed week, all!

Re: Exercise support group--week of 7/22!
today's session: run 1hr21min 7.89 miles
Got to the pool at lunch, but they closed it this morning for maintenance. The chemistry is out of whack. Oh well, I'll get that session in tomorrow morning.
Stayed up until midnight watching Ironman Lake Placid last night. It was amazing at the end when everyone was chanting Tom, Tom, Tom, for the last guy in. The stands were packed with people, including a lot who had finished hours earlier. The last racer, Tom, made it in at 16 hours 58.5 minutes or so. Just under the 17 hour cutoff.
My friend John finished in 11hr23min. Simply amazing.

That is wonderful. Good going Michael.
I was able to do 5.5 miles yesterday and just got back from the gym at lunch for another 4.5. I am happy I am getting back on track. It was a rough 3 weeks not able to exercise due to illness.
Getting the motivation back is just as hard - but I am back.

Don,
It is amazing and mind boggling. I cannot fathom moving my muscles beyond exhaustion for the better part of a day.

Re: Exercise support group--week of 7/22!
Hey everybody--hope you're doing well!
I have a new exercise partner...........my hubby!!! I'm so excited. He said he wants to get back into shape, and he asked me to walk last night, and tonight, we power walked together...it was awesome! We went nearly 3 miles...!! And we could carry on a conversation, but barely, as they say that's your litmus test for brisk/power walking/jogging. My foot is also a little better. Normally, I work out alone, so never really had to 'test' the conversational thing....but, we were tired when we got back...so that's a good thing!
Just sharing...
anyone else sleep better from working out? I have always found that to be a fast remedy for insomnia.

Awesome! You said you were looking for a walking club, and you found one.
I'm in San Diego this week, and got to run along the marina this morning. Made it 3 miles, so I'm at 9 for the week.

I guess that's one of the benefits of having a travelling job. I see a lot of the country, and when I'm running, I can take my time to enjoy the scenery a lot more that when I'm driving.

I ran 3 miles again this morning, along the marina. It's such a hard run, having to look at all that beautiful water, and boats. I suffer so much!
