Default Exercise support group--week of 8/12!

Hi, friends. Happy new week. Ready to set goals? Well, do it anyway.

I took today off to recover from yesterday's 10K run. So my goal this week is to run 15 miles.

I haven't made my goals the past two weeks. This week is a recovery week, my work schedule is pretty light, so I ought to be able to make the goals for the week:

Swim: 4600.00 Yd 1h 40m

Bike: 4h 36m
Run: 2h 5m

Did seven today, and hope to do 40. Will be attending a seminar all next week at San Juan Bautista, Ca. Class runs from eight in the am until eight thirty in the pm, so don't think I will have much chance to get in a run, but will take the "tenny runners" anyway.

Prague, how can you survive a 12 hour class? I mean, the human brain can only absorb so much in a day. I know. I teach classes, and I try to go past about 6.5 hours in a day, people start to shut down mentally.

Well, it is a pretty intense course, but we all go into it with our eyes open. I have had long ones in the past and managed ok.
I am one of those people that can do two things at one time. Maybe that helps... The course is for RCIA. Yikes, sometimes that is a controversial word on CAF.

Hi everyone

I just finished 2 miles on the eliptical...with some mild strength training again...and a loooot of sit ups. Ugh--hate those.

My goals for the week are to up my workouts 30 seconds cardio, and 5 minutes strength training each. Also, to throw in two tough intervals...high resistance on the eliptical to mimic those good ole Pittsburgh hills I miss so much.

I am committed to doing my workouts 5 days each week...and at the end of each week, having done an additional 5 minutes roughly...so work up to one hour eventually on the eliptical. That would be about 4-5 miles, by that point...

With all of our talk about asking God to help us to keep our bodies in good condition...It suddenly struck me today, that when I work out...I am planting seeds. Same as I do at work...same as I do as a mom...as a wife. God wants us to plant the seeds that He provides to us...He will water them with His grace...and He will provide the harvest. So...I needn't worry about the end result...just focus on planting seeds in good soil (just do it as Nike says!) and He will take care of the rest. My workout today was much more pleasant...even fun...with this in mind. Truth be told...I really like running...and having to give it up because of my foot problems, and turn to the eliptical caused me to shun my workouts all too much...but with this new enlightenment from the Holy Spirit...I can stick to it!

With God...all seeds can be planted...and all things are possible. Please God...help me each day to plant the seeds of your Kingdom...in body, mind, and spirit.

Just sharing my thoughts, ya'll.

Thanks for those thoughts, Sharon.

Patience like that is a virtue I definitely need to cultivate. I so often forget that it's my responsibility to just plant the seeds, and it's the Holy Spirit that does the heavy lifting.

So often, I delude myself and think that certain things are my doing. Of course, when that happens I usually get hit with a dose of reality and some much needed humility.

I ran 3 miles on the treadmill this evening. It was hard, and I don't know why. I just didn't feel motivated. But I did it. I'm back in Kansas City this week, so I have to run on the treadmill here. It's too hot and humid to run outside.

Sharon, I'm so excited about your insights. That is truly inspiring. Thanks for sharing. It also sounds like you're ready to take back the weekly threads.

Ended up with just under 9 miles for the day yesterday. Slightly off pace for a 50 miler........I'll be walking extra today.

Good job, Kathy! That's a good start.

I ran 3 miles this morning on the treadmill. So I've got 6 for the week so far.

today: bike 1hr11min 16.92 miles

easy ride with my eldest son... trying to talk him into a quick trip to Lake Placid to ride one loop of the Ironman course... I think he's willing... he asked if we could ride mountain bikes down Whiteface Mountain as well, the Olympic downhill ski course... may have to throw that in to seal the deal... my bones don't mend like they use to, so I think I'd have to go really, really, really, slow... or maybe walk down...
