Re: EXERCISE SUPPORT THREAD--week of August 19th!
There I am for the week--LOL!
My goals are to workout 5 days this week--alternating eliptical with strength training. My kids start school tomorrow-PLEASE say a prayer that their first day at their new school will go very well...they will make good friends this year, and they will be good stewards over God's blessings in their lives. (Thank you)
Make it a great week everyone...I wish you terrific success in goal setting this week!!
With God...all things are possible!

Nope. It's back to you, dear. You're our founder, and leader.
I'm back to a normal routine this week. My goal is to run 21 miles, including a 6 mile long run, which I did this morning. The rest of the week will be on a treadmill.

Absolutely! Welcome. We're a friendly bunch. What kind of excercise do you do? Do you have any goals?

Re: EXERCISE SUPPORT THREAD--week of August 19th!
I'm in!
I do a routine of crunches, leg lifts, bicycle kicks, pushups, and crunches again at least 2 times a day. I'm trying to up it back to 3 a day, and I'd really like to get some more stuff for increasing my ab strength. (I want a flat tummy! )
How does this thread work?

Welcome! It's great to have you here. Well, typically, we set our goals for the week on Sunday or Monday, then support each other throughout the week to hit those goals. And each week, we start a new thread.

I got on the treadmill this morning, and ran 3 miles. So I'm at 9 miles for the week.

Re: EXERCISE SUPPORT THREAD--week of August 19th!
Hi folks. Sorry I haven't checked in the last few days.
I had a bit of a rough weekend.
My wife and three of our boys were in Vermont last week visiting friends. They got back last night.
I wasn't really feeling well all through the week. On Thursday, I noticed a bullseye insect bite under my arm. Classic deer tick/ lyme disease bite.
Of course, seeing that made me feel worse. I had contracted lyme disease about six years ago or so. No fun. Thankfully, it was caught in time and I think the treatment left me close to 100 percent.
I had it confirmed on Friday that the previous infection did not inoculate me against a further infection.
Slept a lot over the weekend, just felt very fatigued. Showed the bite to my wife last night. I hadn't told her about it because I didn't want her to worry. She also thinks it's a deer tick bite.
So I need to go see the doctor now. There's no huge rush, I'll get an appointment for sometime this week.
At this point, I don't know for sure what it is. And a diagnosis of lyme disease can't be made until long after the infection. In the meantime, I'm assuming I'll start a course of antibiotics, the standard treatment.
Hopefully, I won't enter into the range of symptoms that I experienced last time. The first diagnosis I received last time was that the bite was a spider bite, so I wasn't treated with anything at that point. Then I got very sick. I got a second opinion a couple of weeks later and then started treatment.
Anyway, at this point we don't know what it is. I don't feel 100 percent, but it could be some kind of placebo effect.
I may get some training sessions in, but I'll play it by ear. I'm confident that everything will be fine.

Don, I'll keep you in my prayers. Take care of yourself. Be careful not to push yourself too hard. We want you around here for a long time!

Don, you're definitely in my prayers! *huggles* That's so awful, and I hope that you have a full recovery from your bite. Just drink lots of fluids, and rest up. Don't push yourself too hard.
I haven't done any exercise today, though I know I should. I'm going to be doing my crunch routine after I'm off the e-net!
Thanks for letting me join, and I'll definitely be here to support whoever needs it!

Re: EXERCISE SUPPORT THREAD--week of August 19th!
Okay, I am biking again. But no elliptical until it gets okay by the doctor.
I saw my ortho last week. He gave me a cortisone shot and told me that if it didn't help then he would see me in two weeks for an MRI. Well, it didn't work, so now I am waiting for my next appointment so I can have the MRI. If the MRI shows what he thinks it will show, I will be having surgery on my knee.
Google: knee oats and you will get lots of hits on what he is talking about.
Since most likely, I will be having surgery, I want to get my legs as strong as I can. So I will be biking 25-30 miles this week and I plan on starting some leg lifts.

oh no!!! I am so sorry to hear this, Don. We had a relative (inlaw) who was bit by a tick up north many years ago, and oh my...I remember how it upset her life. But, with modern medicine and our prayers...hopefully, you'll be back to your old self in no time. It's hard to believe that such a wee little insect can wreak such havoc no?? My prayers are with you for a quick recovery.

Howdy and Welcome. See the cashier to pay your membership dues. Just kidding, of course. It's great to have you here. Do you have any goals for your workout (e.g., toning, weight loss, muscle building). Encouragement is our specialty.
