Default EXERCISE SUPPORT THREAD -week of Sept 2nd

Thought I'd start this since everyone seems to off exercising somewhere - left me all alone in front of my computer.

Made my goal of 25 miles and 3000 cals burned last week ( per the machines only).

I have a new goal...650 miles before my Wedding in the beginning of April. Very do-able barring an injury.

Weekly goals - 2,200 calories per day & 5 days of exercise.

Sunday
Calories: I didn't keep track but it was A LOT!!!
Exercise: Intense Bike Class

Monday
Calories: 2,380
Exercise: Run/walk for 35 minutes + weights

I think I have discovered my biggest downfall - weekends where I have nothing to do for long periods of time. I find myself filling that time with calories.

I have the same problem. I eat out of bordom or nerves.

Hello, I want to join this too.

I went to the doctor last week and she said I absolutely, positively MUST lose some weight (duh!). So I am on a diet and exercise program starting yesterday. Ok, yesterday, with the holiday, I only did the diet.

My starting point is to work out three times a week, minimum. I went to the Y today to start their 12 week program and I have to sign a committment for three days a week. She is starting me on the machines and some cardio. With my schedule, I don't think I can get to the Y more than three times a week, I want to gradually add something to the other days.

Please pray for me. I have started this many times before.

OK Corki - don't set yourself up to fail. You can do this and be successful.

However, think of it as a life change and not a diet. Diets are sooooo difficult and only short term. If your goal is to lose the weight for the short term only - then start the whole dreadful process in a year, then fine.

But if it is to lose the weight and keep it off then look at it as a modified life style. A few tweaks in the eating dept - and a few additions to the movement area.

Sounds like your plan if attack is great - with the Y and the exercise routine. Little baby achievable steps will keep you motivated instead of biting off a big hunk and then getting disappointed in yourself..

YOU CAN DO THIS. I am here to eat the ice cream for you.

Welcome! This is certainly a good place to help keep you motivated.

We've all started slowly, a little bit at a time. Just takes small steps along the way.

Welcome Corki! You have made a good choice to take care of you! Don't worry. Most of us here have not done so well at one time or another. Just don't give up!

I did just under 9 miles today. Had off yesterday. I'd like to get 40 miles for the week.

Hello, folks. I took the weekend off, sort of. I had my biggest sound job of the year, which kept me busy Thursday - Sunday, at least 12 hours a day, and then I took Monday to recover from that. So, today I get back to my running routine - 3 miles per day today through Friday. So my goal is to run 12 miles this week.

Jenn, thanks for starting the thread this week. Where's Sharon?

Corki, welcome to the group. It's an honor and priviledge to have you here. We're here to support each other, so let us know what you need from us, and we'll do the same for you.

HaHa! Yeah, that's me. We worked hard Thursday setting up the sound system, and didn't get out of there until 11:30 at night. The job started Friday at 8 AM. During that day, I climbed the Mountain of Exhaustion. Got out of there around 11:00 Friday night. Saturday had similar hours, during which I went over the Moutain of Exhaustion into the Valley of Numb, and ended the day in the Slap Happy Saloon. By Sunday, we were on autopilot, as we really couldn't see straight anymore. So you can see why I rested on Monday.

Yup. That was all I needed. I just got back from my 3 mile run today, and it went quite well.
