Re: Has there ever been a black pope?
Popes Victor I (189 to 199), Miltiades (310/311 to 314), and Gelasius I (492 to 496) were all from the Roman territories in noth Africa, but it is unknown if they were black (negroid) as we use that term today, or if they were closer in ethnicity to other near eastern or mediterranean peoples who lived in that area at that time.

Probably not Arabs per se, as I think the spread of Arab culture did not occur before the rise of Islam, but a related semitic people, possibly yes. Or I could be wrong.

Re: Has there ever been a black pope?
At that time North Africa was populated by Romans. Even today I don't think there are many blacks north of the Sahara.

Re: Has there ever been a black pope?
As far as I know, we haven't yet had a black African pope,
but I'll nominate one right now: Cardinal Arinze !!
