Re: My 11-yo-daughter has cancer again
Lord Jesus, I pray for the healing of little Tessa. I pray that you may fill her young body with the strength and determination to fight off this disease and bring to her a sense of peace and to her family, comfort, strength and their ability to trust in your most sacred heart. I pray that her cancer will leave and will not return.
Amen.

I'm saying the Divine Mercy Chaplet for her now.

Re: My 11-yo-daughter has cancer again
Gracias. Yesterday she had a CT scan. Later today we'll meet with an oncologist to talk about whatever the scan shows. We thought we were done with this.

I'm a cancer survivor that has regular ct's to check spots on my scans. They haven't changed in almost 4 years. I have "scar" tissue in my lungs and nodes around my kidney pole. I know how tough it is to wait and see. But in the cancer world, no news is good news. Hang in there brother and you all still have my prayers. Tim

Re: My 11-yo-daughter has cancer again
Met with the doc today. There's a two-inch mass in there. His recommendation: immediate surgery (as in next week) to remove it followed by four sessions of a specific chemo soup.
I used up all my leave from work in July/Aug when she was in the hospital the first time. Gotta talk now with the HR department. I don't know if I can get more time off with pay.
And I don't know how we'll pay for our share of two surgeries so close together.

Re: My 11-yo-daughter has cancer again
Scott, I am so sorry.
This prayer is from Catholic Culture so I am very sure it is orthodox.
Prayers for a Sick Child
Rev. Schmiedeler gives the formula for the blessing of a sick child, which may also be prayed by parents.
Beautiful are the prayers of the Church for the visitation of a sick child in the home. The words, pronounced by the priest, are as follows:
"O God, to whom all things grow, and by whom they are strengthened when grown, stretch forth Thy hand upon Thy servant who is sick at a tender age: that recovering the vigor of health, he may arrive at the fullness of years, and always give unto Thee a faithful and grateful service all the days of his life. Through our Lord. . ."
O Father of mercies and God of all consolation, who providing in manifold tenderness for the good of Thy creatures grantest the grace of healing not only to the soul but also to the body, deign to raise this sick child from his bed of suffering, and to restore him safe and sound to Thy holy Church and to his parents; so that all the days of his prolonged life he may increase in grace and wisdom before Thee and men, serve Thee in justice and holiness, and give due thanks to Thy mercy. Through Christ. . ."
O God, who in a wonderful order appointest the ministries of angels and of men, grant in Thy mercy that they who ever stand ministering to Thee in heaven may also guard the life of this child upon earth. Through Christ. . ."
Placing his right hand on the forehead of the child the priest adds: "May Jesus, the Son of Mary, the salvation and Lord of the world, through the merits and intercession of His apostles Peter and Paul and of all His saints be merciful to you and full of tenderness. Amen."

Good, they can isolate it and get it out. The chemo will get any possible cells that are left. Sounds like it was caught early enough. Mine was late stage 3 and they could not remove it as it was like buckshot in my lungs and lympths. Chemo is easy at first then gets tougher as the treatments increase. At first it was like a cold, I would recover, then have a few good days, then get another treatment. The good days dwindle to none as the treatments come. That was four years ago and the Lord spared my sorry butt. Your daughter will be in good hands. Be the rock for your daughter. Show no doubt to her but increase the faith. Pray with authority when with her. I really feel for you all in this and I will continue to pray. Tim
