Default Jimmy Akin

Does Jimmy Akin have total recall - a "photgraphic memory"?

His ability to quote from the most obscure documents and books is staggering...

Jimmy Akin rocks. I love his sense of humor. I would love to see him speak at a public event.

I think I remember Jimmy saying once that he does have a photographic memory. As you said it is not just his ability to quote chapter and verse from well known documents and books but this ability re obscure - no ones ever heard of -books which is truly amazing.

I also like the calm, objective way he answers the questions.

I mean, how could anyone not like a man who takes pictures of mud!

He does have a photographic memory. I also like to note that during an Catholic Answers Live session, he was looking over his computer and checking some information to verify it as well. I forgot which Q & A Catholic Answer session he mentioned it.

I took a class from a "memory expert," and he said that essentially no adult has a photographic memory. Some children can. For example, they can recall a picture of a zebra and count the stripes from memory.

Adult memory for details is subject to suggestion.

With that said, some people of course have better memories, and there are techniques that one can use to remember things.

When I first started listening to Catholic Answers I found him a little too dry, needless to say he is now my favourite apologist and his knowledge and faith never fail to inspire me!

I like the way he can adapt his speech. When he drops gerunds (ing word endings) it's almost virtuosic. He makes it sound like he's doing all of this with "half his brain tied behind his back".

I don't know him that well. But I know of him and have read several of his documents as I've used it in my own arguments.

He is well versed with scripture and very convincing in his arguments.

Great guy

Catholic Radio came to the 9 million or so bay Area several months ago. For the first time. I agree Aiken i sort of dry, his voice, but grows on you.

He is up there. I'd add Patrick Madrid. Phenomenal.

Others are good but these two are, so far from what I've herard, the best. What is lacking in Aiken's vocie is present in Madrid's voice IMO. But they are both excellent. IMO.

What the memory expert said may or may not be true but I would love to be a fly on the wall when he talks to Jimmy Akin.

I feel like a groupie. However, I believe it was Jimmy that said to a caller "would you leave Peter because of Judas". I was struggling with coming back home to the Catholic Church after discovering ancient church documents. This simple statement was a reminder of something I haven't heard in a very long time. This simple statement brought tears gushing form my eyes in remourse. I suddenly realized I had made a serious mistake going to a different Christian faith, running from heretics [strong word...they were priests that are laicized priests]...individuals. So hat's off to Jimmy simple statements. It's not always the impressive comments that work. I'm relieved to find people like him dedicated to apologetics. If that wasn't Jimmy then who was it. I was distracted back then. I listen to CA to and from work if I'm not praying a rosary
