Thumbs up SUGGESTION: Spell Checker

Would it be possible to add this to the forum? I've been on other forums that have this and it is very helpful to us bad spellers.

You're a bad spiller? I have a doctorate in English and have trouble spelling anything longer than three letters (and sometimes even then). A spill chick would be wonderful.

John, your message gives no evidence of poor spelling--a poor choice of words, sure, but not poor spelling.

(Some people spill well, and some people spill badly. When I spill, I make a real mess of things.)

Well....Then I am in good company! My Dad was one of the smartest men I've ever known, but he couldn't spell "dog" without a dictionary!

I am going over my post limit for the day, but I have to just help people on this issue because there is a simple solution. You can type the message that you would like to post in Microsoft Word or most other word editors and then just copy and paste them into where you would normally write your message on the web site. Just make sure that you are not transferring it over as an attachment.

Type out your text in Microsoft Word

Highlight the text in Microsoft Word that you would like copied to the message board and hit..
“[Ctrl] C” to copy
or right click on the selected text and select the copy option.

Then click in the area where you would normally type a message so that you have an active cursor in the field then hit
“[Ctrl] V” to paste
or right click and select the past option.

That way you can use the spellchecker for Microsoft word.

Hope this makes sense and helps.

Thumbs up Re: SUGGESTION: Spell Checker

Hello,

There is another way to improve your English spelling and that is to use an auto complete program where you type in the first few letters and then a popup appears that lets you select the word you want to type. This ensures that you type the correct word and also improves your typing speed.

There are some programs that do this but I would recommend Turbo Type because of the way it predicts the word you are about to type.

You can find it at: http://www.easytousetools.com/turbo_type/

Good luck!

Use Firefox as your internet browser and you will always have a spell checker when you type on the web.

Cool Re: SUGGESTION: Spell Checker

This discussion reminded me of the child of an atheist and a dyslexic, who didn't believe in Dog.
