Well all, get this one: I take some children to Mass with me on Sunday. They started to bring coins for the offering throughout the week. They've been leaving the change on my shrine throughout the week, but I'm not comfortable with that. I spoke with their parents and came up with the idea of a weekly bank.
I remembered from parochial school we had these "Love Loaf" banks - little plastic banks shaped like bread. We used them throughout Advent and Lent to collect money for charity.
I figured I could get a Love Loaf, leave it on my shrine, and we could tote the change in on Sunday. Or, choose a charity at the end of Advent or Lent. Sounds simple, right?
I managed to track down the makers of the Love Loaf at World Vision International
, and their program has been discontinued since October 2007. That's this month! Oh, the irony!
Does anyone know where I can get a bank? I called several local parishes with attached schools (they thought I was nuts, I'm sure) but no one remembers them in this region. I posed a "Want it Now" ad on eBay and that's how I got the lead to World Vision. Does know where I may call? These things were mass-produced so there has to be a lone Love Loaf floating around out there somewhere.
I am not soliciting for a free item, just trying to find out where to get one. I considered putting this in Family Life, but I don't have kids of my own, so I put it here where the "Missionary Work" stuff goes. Any help is greatly appreciated!
