Default St. Francis of Assisi Coffee Club- All welcome!

I'm starting a new chat group, The St. Francis of Assisi Coffee Club. (Don't worry if you don't like coffee, we won't make you drink any). This club is for all forum members who want to come in, kick back, and get away from the sometimes intense threads in the other forums. I'm praying that St. Francis will pray for us all, and allow all who post here to do so in a spirit of charity and friendship.

Blessings on you Mary! An inspired idea I shall visit often.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

This is one my favorite poems of his. It's short and so very lovely.

The Tree of Love

The tree of love its roots hath spread
Deep in my heart, and rears its head;
Rich are its fruits: they joy dispense;
Transport the heart, and ravish sense.
In love's sweet swoon to thee I cleave,
Bless'd source of love . . . ,

- St. Francis of Asissi, Into Love's Furnace I am Cast.

I honestly didn't either until I started looking up his poems. He had a very beautiful soul.

I think he is a wonderful saint. I would love to be more like him in so man ways.

My daughter is yelling up to my room- my "closet" is up in the crows nest at school, and she is standing 3 floors down, talking to me.

Reading about the Saints seriously helps us stay focused. He is one of my very favorite Saints.

How can you hear her? lol! speaking of daughters, I need to finish around here. We are having friends over later and our kids are trick or treating together. My husband is coming home early to help our oldest set up a spooky garage. I'll try and drop back in later.

I'm so glad you did this Mary. Thanks

I think I'll have to do decaf tonight, can't mess up all that beauty sleep I seem to need.

I don't know that I have anything by St. Francis and I don't know why, I think he's a wonderful Saint.

I'm going to have to try to find some nice quotes by him, this would be a nice thing to do here, while we chat.

hiya
i found the book, it's more about then by him.
it seems to be about his "enduring fascination"
but unfortunately it sounds like it might have an environmentalist spin to it...
