CMT Awards ???
Hello, and sorry but this is the only section where this seemed to fit, but is it me or am I getting old, but I noticed Saturday night a great absence of country music as I used to know it at the CMT music awards.
I'm a purist, but I could not help noticing that I could not tell the difference between some Popular music and this watered down version of country.
I noticed Kris Kris...... u know who in the crowd and I love his song writing, also Dwight Yokam, but I have to say I would never buy this music, not it all, there are exceptions, but on the whole it's not raw country music.
I have to say I enjoyed the Eagles, because when Vince Gill introduced hem, he said country rock, so I knew what to expect.
But the sight of scantly clad ladies with no pole to pole dance with made me think, what tha hell has gone wrong with Country music in the USA.
Because as far as I'm concerned, "IT" CM but for the exception can no longer call itself Country music.
I'm from Ireland if you haven't noticed, and there are links to CM and Ireland, but this excuse for CM ..........no way hosea.

Guess ya have to live in the Southern U.S....like I do...to recognize change. Some of today's music is wonderful, but I still love the oldies... Merle Haggard, Tammy, Loretta, Johnny Cash,
George Jones, Dolly Parton, Waylon, etc...
I do like Lee Greenwood, Garth Brooks, Travis Tritt, and a few others that I call "newbies".

I recognize change right from where I live, and I don't like the change that CM has taken, like I said there are exceptions.
The thing is Ive seen on this forum where some have called it " crying in your beer music" OK fine, but I don't see the more up tempo stuff as any better, except it is more up-tempo "crying in your beer music" but thats just me.
But there are a lot of CM oldies coming here, the purists who say they don't play their records on CM music radio anymore in the USA.
Charlie Pride is coming here again, and Gene Watson is on his second visit, I know things have to change, but to change beyond all recognition is hard to swallow.
