EXERCISE SUPPORT GROUP -week of 11/25
Happy Sunday, everyone. Today starts the last week of the year, so we have one week to accomplish everything we said we would do this year.
Anyway, let's set some goals for the week. My goals are the same as last week: run 24 miles, including a 9 mile long run. Next Sunday, I've decided to run in a 15K run with some friends. It shouldn't be a big deal, as that is 9.3 miles, and I've been running 9 miles every Sunday already. It should be fun.
Who's next?

Re: EXERCISE SUPPORT GROUP -week of 11/25
My runs increase from 30 to 40 minutes next week. I'm trying for 2 days of Master's Swimming, but it depends on my sleep schedule since one of the practices is a 6 am. I'd like to get to the gym for strength training for 2 or 3 workouts this week. One bike workout this week that I'll do on a trainer. The rest of my biking will be functional commuting.

I am going to try for 40 in 5 with some time on the mini trampoline thrown in for good measure.

Re: EXERCISE SUPPORT GROUP -week of 11/25
Hi everyone--hope you all enjoyed Turkey Day! I didn't over eat...I'm proud of that!
I was away for a few days...and have been neglecting this thread...partially because I didn't have a whole lot to write about. But, I decided to go for a 2 mile walk/jog today...but now my back hurts. My foot has all but completely healed--praise God. I didn't think it would take this long...but what has it been? Like a year right, since I started complaining about that back in PA?
I am not going to push too much jogging now, since it's still pretty freshly healed, but I think the elliptical will be good for those really tough workouts. Glad I got something in this weekend!
Have a blessed week everyone..Your always in my prayers. God bless.

Hi, Sharon. It's great to see you here again. I still look up to you. If I recall correctly, you said a year ago that the doctors told you it could take up to a year to heal. Am I remembering correctly? Anyway, I'm so glad it's healing. How long 'til you can get back to your full routine?

Pam, that's an awesome start! I'm really impressed. Good job.
I forgot to mention that I got my long run done this morning. I ran 9 miles, and felt really good afterward. That's such a good feeling.

aw, really? you look up to me? I'm only like 5'4" though. No really...that is very kind of you to say.
Yes--you are remembering my foot fiasco correctly...this all began when I took up running last October. I can't believe it now, though--it's nearly healed. I can walk the mall for hours with no problem--and pushed it a bit yesterday, and I'm fine today. So, I guess it takes a good long while.
No exercise today. We went out for sushi, and got home too late...but, tomorrow, I plan on doing the elliptical...I'll have to swap my days out on my plan. How is everyone doing today??

I like your username, pam. Good job--do you walk/jog/run? Sorry...I have fallen behind on what everyone is doing these days on here.

Thanks Whatevergirl,
Thanks, the username is because I sell fireworks for a living.
I try to speed walk. I sometimes just walk at a regular pace. Depends on what kind of time I have.
Thanks Michael,
You have really given me so much hope. I am so thankful for all of you here on the forum! My family away from home!
Well, I got in another 1 1/2 miles today so my total for this week is at 4 miles... I hope I can meet my goal this week.
God Bless you all!
Pam

Re: EXERCISE SUPPORT GROUP -week of 11/25
Good luck to everyone this week
I did an upper body workout yesterday, and jumped on the exercise bike this morning before work. I can still feel my heart beating like mad, which is a good sign.
Hope everyone has a productive week!

Re: EXERCISE SUPPORT GROUP -week of 11/25
Hi all. Hey I heard the most interesting thing - a bad interesting thing though.
I walk and walk and walk each week. Part of the reason I walk is to help keep bone density to fight off osteo when I get a tad older.
Guess what? Unless I add strength training a few times a week, then all the walking is for naught in the fight to prevent osteo.
Yes - it will assist in keeping trim and has other health benefits.
So I have realized I have to work in 3 trips to the gym each week and scale back my daily cardio.
So my new goals are only 20 miles a week with 3 trips to the gym- still finding my groove.
