EXERCISE SUPPORT THREAD--week of 12/2
Michael--shocked? Yes--I started the new thread for the week! (like the old days) I really feel determined to getting stronger and back on track with regular workouts! Yesterday's workout really 'did' something to me...I feel motivated again. It's important to say positive affirmations -- like I will get strong, as opposed to I want to lose 15 lbs. We sometimes associate 'loss' with negative things, so that is why it's hard to keep weight loss down, and maintain exercising when all we concern ourselves with is a number on the scale. So...I want to grow strong, and be as healthy as I can be...for God, for my family, and for me.
Call it an early NY's resolution!
My goals for the week are 5 days cardio, 2 miles for walking/jogging, and elliptical on some days...3 miles. Weight training 3 days per week...
HERE'S TO HEALTH, EVERYONE!

Re: EXERCISE SUPPORT THREAD--week of 12/2
I am trying something different this week also. I am going to be really aware of what I eat and what I do. I think we all at one tiome or another "get too comfortable" with what we are doing eating and exercise wise. I want to "get stronger and healthier" as Sharon said so I will be monitoring more closely my food intake and exercise regimen.
Good luck all!
Kathy

Re: EXERCISE SUPPORT THREAD--week of 12/2
Good morning everyone!
My week will be busy at the office, so pray for me that I may be able to exercise and not sit at my desk for most of the day.
I was able to reach my goal for last week... just barely.
I will probably not post a goal for this week, I'll just see how things go at work.
God Bless,
Pam

Re: EXERCISE SUPPORT THREAD--week of 12/2
Hi kathy!
Good goals! I am with ya. I think this line of thinking will promote better results, if you will. My dh was cooking hash browns this morning, and I looked at them, and instantly thought..." will those hash browns lead me towards my goal or away from my goal...to eat healthier?'' We know the answer. So, it was effortless...I didn't think twice...did not eat them, and didn't even care. Weird, no??
Had I known it was this easy...I'd be chanting this mantra in my head long ago.

Re: EXERCISE SUPPORT THREAD--week of 12/2
Sharon, this is SO exciting! I'm thrilled to see the old Sharon back at it again. Good for you.
Well, I ran in the 15K this morning. It was SO cold. The temp was 41 degrees at race time. My goal was to finish in 90 minutes, and I actually finished in 1:22:12 (Unofficial time). I felt really good. Afterward, they had a free pancake breakfast for all the runners, and a free massage. It was wonderful.
For this week, I'm going to take it as a recovery week. So, I plan to run 2 miles a day, M-F.

Re: EXERCISE SUPPORT THREAD--week of 12/2
Just got back from a power walk...went a little over 2 miles...and started to jog, but my foot...ah, I felt a slight twinge coming back...so I just kept it at a very brisk walking pace. Thought I was completely healed...but, I will not jog for a little while longer. I soooo miss running. But...soon enough.
Anyways...as I was walking...I thought...we should not only set goals...but at the end of the day/week...as ourselves...'what did we do today/this week, that moved us toward our goals? What didn't we do? What did we do that moved us AWAY from them?' I think this is helping me greatly.
So, I exercised today, and ate healthy...have a veggie lasagna (pasta-less) in the oven for dinner ..so that is what I did today to move towards my fitness goal. What are your goals, and what did you do today to move towards them?

Hi KATHY
Just ask yourself the question...did what I eat today move me towards my goal? Before you eat your next meal/snack...think to yourself... is this going to move me towards or away from my fitness goal? (not weight loss goal...think fitness) It's amazing what a little reprogramming will do...we can do it for virtually anything, when ya think about it...
....did what I do & think about today lead me towards being holy? Did I do something that led me from it? It's amazing. A coworker of mine listens to affirmation tapes, and told me that thinking positively...and asking yourself questions throughout the day, will help one to achieve his/her goals quicker.

Aw. Is that like an oxymoron or something?
Well--you are, so get used to it. I think we all learn little tidbits from one another each day . During my entire foot hiatus...I always lurked in this thread, but now it feels great to participate again...and if I can offer a word or two of help...then God is working through me, and I'm getting out of His way! I see that grace shine through you, Kathy, jrabs, pam...and so many others on here...how nice that this thread is growing!!!

Good job, Pam! Consistency is key to meeting those goals.
I ran 2 miles this morning, in keeping with my light recovery week.

Re: EXERCISE SUPPORT THREAD--week of 12/2
You people hanging in there are great! Michael - nice job on the race.
Sharon, baby your foot. You've come so far with the injury.
I am also feeling a new dedication to exercise. Last week was a great week for the gym.

Hi jrabs! How are you? Yes, I'm not going to jog just yet...just in case...not worth it. I still marvel that it's taken a year to heal...wow. Tell me about your great week in the gym last week....
