EXERCISE SUPPORT THREAD--week of 12/9
Hi everyone--new week, new thread! Getting close to Christmas...are you near where you wanna be? Struggling to abstain from overeating this holiday season? Are you doing something...even if it is only 20 minutes...that will lead you towards your fitness goal? If not--join us here for motivation...if so--share with us your story!
My goal is 5 days of cardio, and 3 days of weight training. I would like to get stronger this week...even if just by a little. I am planning on doing about 45 minutes of cardio on most days--good luck everyone!
Newcomers...please please please join us, won't you?
Michael and jrabs -- where are you? We miss you here.

Hi Catholicracer! Welcome. I used to tell myself, when wanting to lose weight--ok, I need to lose 10 lbs...But, I have soon learned that that statement is 'inactive.' It doesn't move us one way or the other. Perhaps, say to yourself...I want to race cars. If I eat this snack, or this meal--will it lead me to THAT goal? And, you will be surprised how much easier getting to your goal will become. Give it a try...I tried it this week, and it really works!
Re: vitamins--I take a multi--every day...same time, daily. Otherwise, I'll forget...and not all vitamins can be taken on an empty stomach...
We could motivate each other?

Yeah that would be easyer. I use to try to use getting a girlfriend as motivation but After a day or two I stop working out and say that being single is just fine lol Are bagles and cream cheese a good healthy breakfast?

HAHA--You must do it for you, Catholicracer. (and for God--He wants us very much to take care of the 'temples' He blessed us with, right?)
Re: bagels...hmmm...I would only eat half...instead of an entire bagel. They have a lot of carbs, and often times, if men especially decrease their carb intake daily--they will see a rapid drop in their weight in a short amount of time. Now, I don't think Atkins is the best plan...but, I would perhaps, eat a nice slice or two of whole wheat (dense) bread, with light cream cheese. That will give you more fiber, and satisfy your carb craving.

LOL That might help. Think about yourself racing cars--your goal.
Another good breakfast is a bowl of oatmeal, with a hard boiled egg or two for protein.

Re: EXERCISE SUPPORT THREAD--week of 12/9
Our office is heading into week three for a weight loss competition. After watching myself slowly gain of the last few years, exceeding those personal limits I said I never would... I was fearful of Thanksgiving through New Years season, for it's normally automatic weight gain season.
Some of us joined a gym, but the biggest success we're having is our food intake. Being in a office setting, those who are all in the competition are ordering smarter. We've even brought in things like a george foreman grill, a blender, and the healthy eating is catching on. Soooo many times I've tried to loose weight alone, but now, this healthy competition and group efforts are helping. Plus, we all put $50 in one pot, that the winner will take home. Since its men and women, between 25 and 55 in the office trying to loose, we're doing a % weight loss instead of a pound for pound. Now... theres accountability, a little bit of money motivation, and we've already begun a healthy habit during the worst season in terms of eating.
Good luck to everyone else too!

thanks for sharing--that sounds like the most fun one can have while losing weight! I hope you take the 'pot' home.

I generally have oatmeal for breakfast. Then I buzz my "seed mix"(sunflower, pumpkin, sesame and flax combo)in a bean grinder, sprinkle it over the oatmeal with some hemp protein powder on top for good measure and a smattering of either raisins or craisins tossed in too. Then just a little bit of soy milk on top. Pretty good!

That is a great goal
I did not work out today, as planned. Oh, no reason. Just lazy, and tired from the weekend.
Tomorrow....tomorrow...I love ya, tomorrow...you're only a daaaaayyyyyy aaaaawaaaayyyyy! (sung in my Annie voice)
