Latin community in Greensburg
Is anyone interested in forming a Latin Mass Community in Greensburg? Has anyone contacted Bishop Brandt and received a reply? We have a good start with the Latin Mass at 1:30 in the Crypt at St. Vincent Basillica. Let's hear from ya.

Tried. Been turned down. Not enough priests is the excuse.
Yes we would be very interested. The one in Latrobe is wonderful but tooo far to go in bad weather with the kids. We try to go on first Friday.

Re: lATIN COMMUNITY IN GREENSBURG
My reason for this post is that there seems to be no connectivity for those who wish to attend the TLM. That, to me, is why we have such a hard time getting things started. We need a better way to keep in touch. I live in GBG. and St. Vincent is only a 15 min drive. We've started a Schola Choir but we need help. A director would be great and a few more voices.

I'm definitely interested. I have only attended the one time, and would love to go every Sunday, but my car needs repairs and I'm leery about driving down from Indiana. I hope I'll be able to start attending soon.

Re: lATIN COMMUNITY IN GREENSBURG
Fridays tend to be the day we can make it as a family. DD canters (last week she cantered every Mass) and the grandsons serve Sunday. But I try to make Friday a day out. Mass and Long John Silvers LOL.

Re: lATIN COMMUNITY IN GREENSBURG
A question is a Schola Choir all male? We have had a couple of opinions on this. So I said I would ask.

Re: lATIN COMMUNITY IN GREENSBURG
The Schola is, I'm told, to be all male. Other's may know the history, but I believe it goes back to the Old Testament Levites. Not sure exactly how. However, the ladies do sing the Credo, Gloria and responses.

That is what we thought . I love to listen to the all male voices in song to our Lord.

Schola, eh? If you could use a baritone, I'm only about an hours drive from St. Vincent's. If a rehearsal schedule becomes available, please inform me.

Re: lATIN COMMUNITY IN GREENSBURG
Our private TLM in Patton (18 miles northwest of Altoona) is only on Sundays (1:00PM) so we are always looking for options for Holy Days. We have been to St. Vincent's TLM in Latrobe several times, but the diocese of Greensburg SHOULD be offering its own TLM. There is no excuse not to, given the history of multiple petitions for a TLM there over the years.
We are also forming a schola at Patton, so if anyone is interested, please send me a PM.

I couldn't agree with you more. Now, I understand Fr. M will no longer be celebrating Mass on Sundays on a regular basis. I 'll be checking on that Sat at the 10:30 mass. I'm gettin older 65 and don't know how much longer I can continue the drive to Pittsburgh at St. Boniface, although it is a true blessing to go there. Good luck with the Scola.

Re: lATIN COMMUNITY IN GREENSBURG
It's news to me that there is a TLM in the Greensburg Diocese. From everything I have read, Bishop Brandt has been against it.
