Christmas Present help
I decided to make a deck of Catholic playing cards for my dad, who's a truck driver and has a good bit of spare time on his hand during his down-time. But I need some help. For the "7" cards, I wanted to put the various things in the faith that are grouped in 7s. I've got the Vices, the Sacraments, and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, but I can't for the life of me think of something else easily recognizable. Maybe the seven days of creation, but that's a little too vague. If anyone can help, that'd be great! I'm also wondering how many 10s there are. The Commandments, of course, but what else?
For anyone who's interested, I'm calling them Vatican Playing Cards, and modeling the style after Bicycle cards. The design on the back is going to be a picture of the Papal Seal that I found -
I'm considering using the symbols for the four Gospels as the Aces, unless I come up with something better, and with "2" through "6" for each suit, there will be a mystery of the rosary (Spades - Sorrowful, Hearts - Joyful, etc). Then Jack through King are going to be Patron Saints. Still not sure about "8" and "9".. Ah well, I'll figure it out. Maybe Marian apparitions... Open to suggestions for them, too ^^ Oh! And the two Jokers are going to be John Paul the Great and Blessed Mother Theresa, the two almost-saints.
Thanks for any help!

Re: Christmas Present help
Ha, I just found the other 7 - Virtues. I knew there was something similar to the Gifts but I just couldn't remember what they were. Go figure. Okay, so 7 is taken care of!

From drbo.org. There's the 10 horns and diadems in Revalations, 10 lepers in the Gospels, 10 plagues...
For 8 and 9 -
Quote:
Luke 2
21 And after eight days were accomplished, that the child should be circumcised, his name was called JESUS, which was called by the angel, before he was conceived in the womb.
John 20
26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them. Jesus cometh, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said: Peace be to you.
1 Peter 3
20 Which had been some time incredulous, when they waited for the patience of God in the days of Noe, when the ark was a building: wherein a few, that is, eight souls, were saved by water.
2 Machabees 12
10 And when they were now gone from thence nine furlongs, and were marching towards Timotheus, five thousand footmen and Ave hundred horsemen of the Arabians set upon them.

9 can also be for the novena, and nine months in the womb.
