Pax on pets...you've got questions....I've got answers!
The title of this thread says it all. Ask anything you want concerning your pet(s) and Pax will give you an answer. Your questions can be serious or silly. Discussion is encouraged but not mandatory.

And why might our own dear Pax be such an authority on pets? Just curious...
Ok - here's one - why do hedgehogs have prickles?

I'm so glad you asked this question. I am an authority because I am so petty.

Hedgehogs have prickles because "ruffles have ridges."

Ok Pax. Why do cats need to scratch things, like the carpet, the furniture, scratching posts...etc?

Ok....maybe you can answer this. My cat is driving me nuts. After she "uses" the litter box, instead of scratching in the litter, she scratches on the edges of the plastic....makes my skin crawl. What gives??

Cats do this because they have difficulty communicating with people. Cats assume that people are "staff" and not their "masters." They scratch things to show us that they are in charge. Tearing up our stuff demonstrates their superior position.
This is not true, however, of all cats. Some simply scratch things because the cats think that those things itch.

Kitty is simply cleaning the litter off of her paws. They are fastidious and cleanliness is essential. Besides, bothering you is a bonus that your cat cannot resist.

Katie,
I do have a suggestion for you. Simply find a way to get even with your cat.

you're so silly! But, wait...you might be right. My cat does think he is the boss.

I been trying!!! I swear "Emma"s sole reason for living is to drive me to the edge of sanity.

Re: Pax on pets...you've got questions....I've got answers!
Not a pet question, more of a pest question. I have this really bad unicorn infestation in my house. I made the mistake of feeding a stray that was hanging around and now all his family has moved in. They're noisy, smelly, and scratch the plastic on the litter box. Orkin hasn't been able to help. Any suggestions on how to get rid of them?

Your forum name makes me think that you should be able to handle this problem yourself. Nevertheless, you came to the right person for advice. I have notified Ted Nugent and he has promised to take care of the problem.
Once the infestation is taken care of by Mr. Nugent, I fully expect a check from you and some steaks from him.
