Default Bible verses about soldiers

I was looking for a verse in the bible that talks about how soldiers will not be judged for war but the leaders would.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi, da nolo!

I do not recall any Biblical passage that speaks on soldiers not being judged but I do have two passages in mind that do speak on responsibility and authority:

1 Wisdom is better than strength, and a wise man is better than a strong man. 2 Hear therefore, ye kings, and understand: learn, ye that are judges of the ends of the earth. 3 Give ear, you that rule the people, and that please yourselves in multitudes of nations: 4 For power is given you by the Lord, and strength by the most High, who will examine your works, and search out your thoughts: 5 Because being ministers of his kingdom, you have not judged rightly, nor kept the law of justice, nor walked according to the will of God.
6 Horribly and speedily will he appear to you: for a most severe judgment shall be for them that bear rule. 7 For to him that is little, mercy is granted: but the mighty shall be mightily tormented. 8 For God will not except any man's person, neither will he stand in awe of any man's greatness: for he made the little and the great, and he hath equally care of all. 9 But a greater punishment is ready for the more mighty. 10 To you, therefore, O kings, are these my words, that you may learn wisdom, and not fall from it.
(Wisdom 6:1-10)
http://www.drbo.org/chapter/25006.htm

1 Let every soul be subject to higher powers: for there is no power but from God: and those that are, are ordained of God. 2 Therefore he that resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God. And they that resist, purchase to themselves damnation. 3 For princes are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good: and thou shalt have praise from the same. 4 For he is God's minister to thee, for good. But if thou do that which is evil, fear: for he beareth not the sword in vain. For he is God's minister: an avenger to execute wrath upon him that doth evil. 5 Wherefore be subject of necessity, not only for wrath, but also for conscience' sake.
6 For therefore also you pay tribute. For they are the ministers of God, serving unto this purpose. 7 Render therefore to all men their dues. Tribute, to whom tribute is due: custom, to whom custom: fear, to whom fear: honour, to whom honour.
(Romans 13:1-7)

These two passages speak on various levels of responsibilities in the Lord: Wisdom is a warning to rulers to not abuse their power as it reminds them that God has given them their authority--thus, they must answer to Him for any abuse of their power. In Romans Paul reminds the Church that we must obey our earthly rulers because they are representatives of God and they must exercise thier power justly.

Maran atha!

Romans 13

Soilder will be judged in war if they misbehave in such like killing those who are trying to flee the war zone, who do not want to fight.

Or gunning down a village or following an unlawful order.

in theology you want to look up the Just War Theory

A lot of what Broyde has to say does apply to christians who are in the military.

There's also John the Baptist's advice to the soldiers who came to see him, in Luke 3:14 --

"And the soldiers also asked him, saying, 'And what shall we do?' And he said to them, 'Do violence to no man; neither calumniate any man; and be content with your pay.'"
