When I was a kid...
What strange things did you think/do (that you can remember) that turned out to be not quite like reality, or just plain silly?
...I used to think everyone who was on the radio was "live" at the radio station. Meaning, I thought musicians would travel around night and day to different radio stations, play a song, and move to the next radio station to do it again for the next town.

Re: When I was a kid...
I used to think I could continue to eat anything I wanted for the rest of my life.
Horror of horrors when I hit my 30's and realized I was mistaken and delusional.

When I was a kid....the days lasted forever, especially during the summer months. All track of time was not important....however after high school, forget it. Time became our enemy!

Re: When I was a kid I thought...
(I can't find the other thread, so here's some more...)
...that "red light district" meant an area (district) in the city where there was a traffic light on every street corner, so traffic there was horrible.
..."communion of the saints" meant the Eucharist (we called it Holy Communion).

I used to think the Berlin Wall was the most impassable barrier ever built.

I used to believe in "Happily Ever After" ending. Boy, was reality a real dousing [sic] of cold water.

I use to think that skunks were invisible since you can smell them but not see them. Boy, was I shocked when I first saw one.

The most powerful weapon to conquer the Devil is humility. For as he does not know at all how to employ it, neither does he know how to defend himself from it.

Well, I thought that they lived in the radio/TV. I remember my little brother and I trying to peek in the cracks to see them. I felt really bad for them because they had to spend their whole life living in a radio/TV.
I was very naive.

I remember when.......
This is just for fun. Let's take a journey down memory lane. Post fun things that you remember from earlier days - things that no longer exist or that have morphed over the years. I'll start. I Remember When.......
IRW....... McDonald's were square, squatty buildings with two big golden arches and a sign out front stating how many million had been sold.

I remember when they reached 1 billion. (Then I think they stopped)
I remember when getting wall-to-wall carpet, cable, microwaves and air conditioning (and VCRs with a remote (5 big buttons) and wire that only stuck out 2 feet from the VCR) were the coolest thing in the world and everyone talked about it.

Re: I remember when.......
IRW...Gas was 18 cents a gallon during a gas war also when gas was 35 cents a gallon and my mom stopped in Lone Pine on the way to Yosemite and the gas station wanted 50 cents a gallon and I told my mom you can't let them rip us off like that. So she only got $2.00 just enough to get to the next city. IRW... I would go to the first McDonalds in San Bernardino, Ca. IRW... my home town had a population of 15,000 and today it has 180,000.
May God bless and protect us,
JLC
