Default Exercise support thread--week of 2/3/08

Good luck on your workouts this week, everyone...we had a great time last week sticking with our respective goals, it seemed. Nicely done!

This week--my goals are:

2 days bike--8 miles (spinning)
2 days eliptical --2-3 miles
1 day jogging--2-3 miles

3 days weights
1 day rest
I may opt out one of those days of eliptical, and input yoga...

Enjoy this Superbowl Sunday

Today's workout:

I did the eliptical for just a mile...as I am a little tired (cardio wise) from the spinning routine yesterday. Really just did cardio at all, to warm up my muscles for the weights. I did 30 minutes of upper body workout...used my son's bench today...it was a bit taxing--I find when I bench press, it's taxing on my back...oh well...hopefully, I didn't strain anything.

Talk to you this week!

Hope you're feeling better. What's your typical routine like? Looking forward to getting to know you, Hilde. I have to clean the house now... I'd rather workout AGAIN!

I have cleaned a lot these past few days, being away from school. But I take a lot of pauses

I can tell you what i did last time. First I warmed up on the treadmill for 20 minutes where i varied between fast walking and running. Then i did my workout program which consists of using the different machines for 3 x 15 reps, I use about 6 machines if I remember correctly. Then I used the elliptical machine for 30 minutes. That was my first time using the elliptical machine, and it really worked for me, so I'm planning on doing the same routine in the future.

Hilde, that sounds challenging--and like a rewarding workout! ...I hurt my foot last year--(plantarfascitis) from running, etc...[I think largely, it came from running on a so so treadmill...and, now, it's completely healed]...but when I was in pain, I started using the eliptical more and more, and found it to be very challenging...Throwing in the intervals here and there--I will be drenched with sweat on most days...

Please don't be a stranger--we would love to have you here often.

Ciao for now.

I started out this week with a 95 minute run before Mass this morning. I quit running at the 95 minute mark even though I was a mile from home, walking the remaining distance. I felt like I could have ran longer, which is a good way to finish.

My goal this week is to be flexible with my planned workouts as I'm fasting Wednesday and Friday.

hi duncan--GREAT run! Wow! I actually went for a power walk...that turned into a jog...yay--my foot is all better everyone! I went about 2.5 miles...and did a power walk as a cool down...it feels great to be able to jog again...

It is hot already here in Florida...maybe jogging smack dab at midday isn't the wisest thing...

duncan--I was going to ask everyone about fasting, and how to manage workouts around fasting.

24 miles sounds good to me!

Hi suat and Kathy--do you like that book? I think the advanced set of reps...are challenging...plus, helps me to utilize other muscle groups I wouldn't thnk to do 'on my own.'

I did spinning tonight...6 miles today. Not my heel, but my achilles heel? like the part that is not your foot, but part of your leg area-is stiff these days. Not sure why.

Have a blessed night, everyone.

Hi Sharon,
I do like the book. And the exercises aren't all that tough either. I am liking it so far. Did just over 8 milesw today!

Yes--the exercises are basic regular free weight workouts...but you can do 15 reps, for 3-4 sets, and they can be challenging. Good job-kathy! 8 miles is terrific.
