Default Exercise support thread--week of 3/2/08

Happy New week, everyone. You know what this means, right? Time to set goals for the week. My goals are staying the same: run 26 miles, including an 11 mile long run. My plan was to do the long run today, as it's the only day this week I'll have the time. But I woke up to high winds howling outside. Well, I couldn't let that get in my way, so I hopped in the car and drove about 10 miles west, out of the path of the wind, and ran my 11 miles.

You must have the most amazing rides...seeing you are in Italy--wow! 23 miles is terrific...I just went about 7 miles today, spinning--now, I'm going to do some moderate weight lifting...nothing too exerting--still don't feel 100%, but I don't want to skip anymore workouts. Happy Sunday everyone!

(Thought I'd copy and paste from the prior thread since we're off to a new week--have a good one everybody!)

Hey Everyone, I've been out traveling a lot the past couple of weeks and will be out traveling on business this week. So my main exercising has been on hotel treadmills, but my Cardiologist says getting a 30min walk everyday is better than an intense workout 4 days. Will be glad when this traveling clams down.

Does anyone have any favorite exercise routines while on the road in hotels and everything?

I'm working on Orange County all week (commuting from home), so that means getting up at 4 every day, and driving to the office, where I can get my 3 mile run done on the treadmill. So I did my 3 miles this morning.

TIME, where are you travelling this week? When I travel for work, I either run on the hotel treadmill, or find a route outside, weather permitting, and enjoy the local scenery.

Wow - you are amazing. It is invigorating though to get the work out done before work.

So then what time do you hop into bed? I'd be shot by 9pm.

Hey I get married in 33 days!

Well, when I have to get up at 4, I need to be in bed by 10 PM. Sometimes that hard, but I make it a priority.

33 days! WOOOHOOOO!!!!

Congrats Jrabs!! I bet you're excited.

My goals are to run 2 miles a day, doing 3-4 on my days off work (if we get the snow the weather guy's predicting may be tomorrow as well ).

Micheal--how long does it take you to run 11 miles?

10? I'd be a witch the next day. You must exsist on less sleep. But then doesn't it get hard with th travel? Are you sleeping while you are driving?

I know - seems like just a few days ago we were starting to plan.

Currently, about 1 hour, 42 minutes, but I'm working on improving that.

Once I set the cruise control, I can just drift off for a while.

Now that is fabulous. If I were to walk/run that far on the treadmill, it would take me about 2.5 hours. Maybe a tad longer even

So I ran another 3 miles this morning. Up to now, my goals each month have been focussed on increasing my distance, building up endurance. Now that I've comfortably mastered 11 miles (on my way to running a half marathon in June), I'm changing my focus to improving my pace. So during the 2nd mile this morning, I picked up the pace a bit. For the next 2 months, I'll be focussing on improving my time for that 11 mile long run I do every Sunday.

My goal for the week is to get back to running. I'm thankful for the elliptical, but I want to be outside. I'm going out shortly to see how my knee holds up. If it's OK, then I'm running the planned 3 hours.
