Mere Christianity - C.S. Lewis
I currently am almost finished with the book and I can honestly say it is one of the best christian reads I have read in a while, even though it is not Catholic I still feel a great wisdom from this book.
I am curious as to what peoples opinions are on this book and how did it help you. It seems to really have me view my faith in a deeper sense and I love his practical yet intellectual reasoning that is easier to understand than some of the ECF. I can't wait to get to his other reads like the Screwtape letter and the Great Divorce.
For Catholics(and non-catholics alike), what are your favorite christian books that have hit your soul and heart in a certain way. While I still read a good number of Catholic books(im on St. Augustines confeesions now and "The Christian Faith" by Jacques Dupuis(containing a large amount of the documents of the Catholic Church),, I still find some protestant writers of really good read like C.S. Lewis, C.H. Spurgeon, and yes, even John Calvin. How did C.S. Lewis writings effect you and do you have any other favorite theologian writings that have hit your heart in a certain way ?

Re: Mere Christianity - C.S. Lewis
Hello: I will try to find this book later today and give it a read. I have just finished reading his book, The Great Divorce and have been watching for posts regarding it, it is good too.

Yea Im gonna start with the Great Divorce soon also. Mere Christianity was abolsutely wonderful however. One of the best christian writings I have ever read. Well maybe not on par with Dante, but Mere Christianity seems to have just the right amount of intellectual with practical without getting too sterile and theological.

I agree but I wished it had gone further into the issues that people bring against Christianity now. And it seemed a bit short.

I really like his books too, I think my favorite was "Screwtape Letters."

A lot of books have been inspired by that one.
