Post An agressive street preacher show up to preach at your door. What do you do?

Sorry, I couldn't help myself but post this.

Suppose you were just sitting peacefully at home when all of a sudden you hear the doorbell. When you check first to see who it is though you see a fundamentalist street preacher. Now you've heard from your neighbors that this preacher is very aggressive and confrontational wherever he goes (he's especially harsh towards Catholics, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists etc). In fact, he'll leave a whole volume of Chick tracts in your mailbox or at your doorstep.

I tried to make the selection of answers as balanced as possible for this category. That's why you'll see that they range from normal or serious answers to humorous and outrageous ones.

Have a shotgun at hand when you open the door and ask him what he wants (back in college, my friend actually did this and he said it worked for him. I'm not recommending it though)

Yeah there was a point where I wanted to use that as well but I felt it might be too offensive.

I wouldn't be in this situation in the first place because I don't open the door to strangers.

However, if I made a mistake and opened the door -- I certainly WOULD NOT let him inside!! Too many people make that WRONG decision and... well... don't survive.

Take every bit of literature he has to offer; ooh and aah over it and ask if he has more. The more you have, the less he can pass out to others.

I usually say that I have a poopy diaper situation that I have to deal in regards to the sofa and carpet.

They often don't want to come in at that point. huh.

One time, a decade ago when I had three toddlers, I had a desperate hour to myself on a sunny day, so I decided to put on my old two piece suit (in which I would never let anyone see me) and sunbathe in my very private backyard. And, JW opened up our driveway gate, walked past my dog, and met me on my back deck. AGGGHHH!! I was so embarrassed (and outraged). Plus, he still wouldn't go away. I never did get to sunbathe. Those hours to myself were so precious and rare....... alas.

He didn't come back though, so maybe I scandalized him. hey, I wonder if I still have that bathing suit........

Hmm... that gives me an idea. Maybe I should practice my martial arts in the front yard next time people like that come around. I'd have to be practicing moves that are really intimidating and fancy though. XD

I was one of these a long time ago. I was always polite and I would thank someone for opening the door to their heart.

As an earlier poster said our times just for ourselves is truly rare these days. An intrusion into that time is almost like a thief that steals something precious from us.

I must say that think I can defend my Catholic faith well and sometimes I would feel more like discussing it than others.

One way to overcome it is to say: Hey, I'm kinda busy right now, how about we get together at YOUR HOUSE on so and so date and if that's ok, then set it up with about 5 of your best Catholic buddies to go over there and all of you discuss it with him. That way everyone can bring all their defending the faith books and maybe you can convert him (or at least he will start to leave Catholics alone)

Bet he says no though ....
