St. Francis of Assisi Coffee Club 2: A Friendly Place!
Because one can never have too much of a good thing, here is the next St. Francis of Assisi Coffee Club! All are welcome; you can discuss St. Francis, or just have a chat and a cuppa!

Can I enjoy a cuppa hot chocolate? I love St. Francis, but I don't like coffee.

Re: St. Francis of Assisi Coffee Club 2: A Friendly Place!
Oooh!!! I noticed that the first St. Francis of Assisi Coffee Club had been closed. Glad to find that you've been kind and opened a new one, CarolAnn!
Nice to see you, Michael! I owe you an e-mail, I know...
Um... if it's not too much trouble... may I have some iced tea? For the last several days, it's been 25 degrees colder than normal. But "that's okay" -- beginning after tomorrow for a few days it'll jump to 40 degrees hotter than normal by hitting 92 to 95 degrees -- breaking record highs for these dates of the year!!
Oh... and does anybody have some extra ice cubes? Or maybe some ice cube trays I can "borrow?" My fridge is not one of those new, fancy ones that make their own ice cubes.
Thanks muchly!!

Yup! Watching The Journey Home in another Window on my computer. Shortly I'll be making some of my favorite "hot weather" food. No... not feeding the hot weather. Eating during hot weather.
I've been making this for at least 20 years, but I don't have a name for my recipe... yet. Suggestions are welcome!
You'll need a huge bowl large enough to hold a shredded head of cabbage and a lid that will keep it closed.
To a shredded head of cabbage, add -- in no particular order --
* a few red-skinned apples (the redder the skin, and firmer the meat -- the better!) cut into approximately bite-sized pieces.
* a 9.7 ounce can (or two) of canned white chicken breast (packed in water) -- drained. I just press the removed can lid down into the cain to drain it - and then scoop the meat into the bowl that already has the cabbage in it.
I get the Swanson when it's on sale because I happen to like the taste of Swanson the best. It's 98% fat-free and has 10g of protein.
* a small bottle of Kraft coleslaw dressing.
--> Keep your bottle of dressing at room temperature until you open it to use it. Otherwise, it'll seem to take for-EV-er to come out of the bottle.
--> Do NOT put more than one small bottle in there. Unless, of course, you happen to like very, VERY wet and soggy coleslaw swimming in dressing. Let it sit an hour or two so that you can see whether or not you need more dressing. You very probably will NOT need more than one small bottle... even if you've got a LOT of shredded cabbage.
MIx with large spoon. Cover bowl to make it airtight. Keep in fridge overnight for best taste results.
After it's been in the fridge overnight, it's VERY GOOD!! After 2 nights, it's VERY, VERY GOOD!! After 3 nights -- it's JPE - Just Plain Excellent!!
Do not keep longer than 3 full days. That is, if you even have any left!!

VeronicaAnne, that sounds really good. Maybe you call it Summer Chicken Slaw. Are you making enough to share with your friends?

Soytenlee!!
Hi, LRThunder. Shall I serve some slaw up for you, as well?
By the way, ya gotta Mickey Dees or a Dunkins in your town, you might want to check this out. It's good for only tomorrow -- Thursday.
post from vedawheee says:
http://community.qvc.com/topic/Viewp...uts/5800014147
On Thursday, McDonald's plans to give away millions of its newest menu items, the "Southern style" chicken biscuit and sandwich, as part of the fast food chain's efforts to woo customers to its expanded chicken menu
Customers will be offered the free lunch and breakfast sandwiches with the purchase of any medium or large drink at any of McDonald's 14,000 restaurants in the United States
dunkins...
Dunkin Donuts is also trying a freebie in May, handing out about four million 16-ounce iced coffees on May 15th.

Re: St. Francis of Assisi Coffee Club 2: A Friendly Place!
Okay. It's finally happened!
Mea culpa!!
It seems that I've inadvertently committed cross-pollination between 2 entirely different forums -- CAF and QVC!
That's what I get for bouncing and posting simultneously between (er, among) too many open windows.
Well... maybe "cross-pollination" is too strong a term since it's one-way only, so to speak. I only put the QVC thread address in this CAF forum. I did NOT reply to the QVC forum and therefore the QVC folks do NOT have the address of this CAF discussion.
Hmmm... I wonder if this is a nudge from the Holy Spirit that I should post a reply having this CAF discussion's Web address to vedawheee's post at the QVC discussion board. It would maximize the publicity about the CAF. At least one person from the QVC board has left it and come here, already because I had put the CAF main page's URL at the bottom of one of my postings at the QVC board.
Seems to me that my mis-hap of putting the URL to the QVC posting about McDonald's and Dunkin Donuts here is a seed that I could be blown ever so gently into new ground. Rather like St. Francis, himself, walking with one of the friars minor around the town's perimeter, saying nothing... just wearing their robes.
What do y'all think? is this the "new evangelization" opportunity that Pope John Paul the Great was suggesting?

Re: St. Francis of Assisi Coffee Club 2: A Friendly Place!
Is that Accidental Evangelization? I didn't know that QVC had it's own forum. What do people talk about there? Shopping?

Re: St. Francis of Assisi Coffee Club 2: A Friendly Place!
Good morning! Ooooohhh, I'm up early today -- think I'll go watch the rest of "Leave It To Beaver" and go back to bed for a while.
But here's some iced tea for non-coffee drinkers:
I don't have any hot chocolate, but how about some nice pancakes?
Now, to get a little more sleep -- I'll be back on later!
