I did tons of errands today, and bought all the final things that I want for labor and the baby. So, this kid is officially welcome to come at any time!
Lotus - I noticed you said you didn't drop with Matthew till the very end. Is this pretty common with first time babies? Everything I read says you'll drop 2-4 weeks beforehand with your first, and so I'm freaking out and adding on at least 2 weeks to my pregnancy since I haven't noticeably dropped yet. Anyone else with the same experience as Lotus?
Sina - I can't believe you're almost done, too! How have you been feeling? Any major changes to speak of yet?

I didn't notice any dropping with Grace. Maybe THAT's why my labor was so long. Or maybe she was just so big and I'm so small that I didn't notice- she had nowhere else to go.
I am going crazy here checking every few minutes for an update from Steph!!! Gotta go do some gardening to pass the time. lol.

I didn't drop with my first until birth was imminent. In fact, he did several ups and downs before active labor started. I think it just depends on lots of factors, like how big the baby is and how much room there is to move around, how tight your other muscles are, etc. Don't sweat it! Your baby will be on time for his/her birthday!

Re: Pregnant Mamas!!!!!!!
Tessa, I looked at my ticker this morning and was SHOCKED to see I am 36 weeks. I haven't really been keeping track!! Time just flies!! I can't believe we are in the homestretch!!!
I think that is so sweet that you feel you have everything ready and baby is WELCOME to come anytime! Good attitude!
I still feel like I need things to sink in a bit more. My feelings change everyday. I am in a child birth prep class ( there is one tonight ) and we are learning about breastfeeding tonight so maybe things will sink in tonight??
I am a bit concerned that I still have three weeks left of work including this week. Hope I can make it!
Hey Captain Catholic! Your idea is a good one but I don't think that thread would be as busy as you think it might be. This month of May is unusually busy! But I think it starts to simmer down a bit later on.

Yeah, I know it is unusual. I guess my sense of irony doesn't show up very well online. I am much funnier in person, trust me! One thing is for sure, and that is that lots of babies are being born into great Catholic families, and this is indeed the springtime of the Church!

Re: Pregnant Mamas!!!!!!!
Praying for all you close to delivery moms and offering up my first trimester "misery" for your heathy deliveries. Today is a bad "morning" sickness day. This is by far my easiest pregnancy, so I shouldn't complain as I am normally bed ridden on the verge of needing i.v. fluids. I think I am more frustrated this time with not being able to keep up with all the housework b/c I feel so gross. My other pregnancies I was just too sick to care. I will take the frustration though as I know this is an extra blessing from the Lord that am able to at least prepare meals, shuttle the kids, and take care of some of the basics. I am praying for all of you and hoping to hear the news of your sweet babies arrivals soon. May St. Gerard and Our Lady be with you during labor and delivery.

Re: Pregnant Mamas!!!!!!!
Anxiously anticipating news of Steph's LO's arrival!~ Shiann, how are you holding up? Tessa?
I will be going in for another blood draw today. My doctor just wants to be sure everything still looks good from a progesterone point of view before giving the OK to keep me off the supplements! 7 days until my ultrasound, too!
Zuzus...I had some sickness a couple of weeks ago and then it's kind of subsided for now. Praying yours gets better!

Re: Pregnant Mamas!!!!!!!
I can't wait to hear from Steph, too! I'm so addicted to these updates, when I wake up in the middle of the night I come out to check to see if anyone has posted.... and that's pretty frequently these days!
Nothing new here. This is silly, but I honestly don't know if I even have contractions. I get the period like cramps, but don't feel any major tightening. Or sometimes I'll feel very tight in my belly, but not have the cramps at the same time, and I don't know if it's just the baby pushing against me or what I'm generally pretty in tune with my body, but I just have no clue! I'm excited for my appointment tomorrow. I'll have my first internal exam since the beginning of the pregnancy, so I'm hopefully I'll have some progress to report.
How are you this morning, Shiann?
3Girls - I hope your ultrasound goes well next week!! Those are so exciting! Glad your sickness is better at least for now, too!
Zuzus - I'm sorry you're feeling so sick, but glad it's not as bad as in previous pregnancies. Make sure you rest a lot and eat (if you can!) plenty of protein!

Re: Pregnant Mamas!!!!!!!
Bout ready to bawl my head off ladies...
There's action, but NO action... I don't know how else to describe it. It is frustrating and wonderfully anxious at the same time.
Had another 18 hours or so of these wonky contractions. 2 mins apart... But they don't radiate around to my back, nor do they feel more than just moderately "take your breath away".
Had my normal 4am rise and shine and timed them for about 50 mins... they didn't do anything other than make me feel really depressed so I went back to bed.
Now they have slipped down to about 2-3 an hour or so.
Just about everyone in my 'daily circle' of family and friends and coworkers know that I've been 'pre-laboring' now almost a week. And every day get to update each and every one of them on how I'm not doing anything other than pre-laboring still. And THEN come the wonderful "you should try..."
::blank stare::
"You really think I haven't tried almost everything known to man to kick start this prelabor!?!?!??"
So I say a quick Divine Mercy chaplet (or part of one) to get my head 'back in the game' and on life goes.
So, we're still in status quo. I'm the airbus waiting for clearance...

Re: Pregnant Mamas!!!!!!!
Shiann- woohoo! You have definitely dropped I'm sorry you're not making more progress with all those contractions. You must be getting tired
Zuzu- I am sorry to hear that you are feeling so sick! Feel better soon!
I'm sooo bored with not working. I clean the appartment to sparkling every day then I sit around and stare at my toes and count the days until baby is due . I need a hobby! This last month is just gonna creep by unless I find something productive to do!

Shiann, you are too funny! Sorry you are having to deal with "wonky" contractions. My #4 about drove me crazy. I had 2 false alarms, just to find out nothing was happening. Praying for some productive contractions for you and an end to friendly suggestions!
3 girls...when are you due? I am due Dec. 3, but will likely be induced 2 weeks early b/c 5 of my children were baby elephants. Hope the blood draw goes well.
Tessa.. I had no noticeable contractions at all with my first before labor. Hope you have news of some progress. Thanks for the advice to rest...I am off to take a nap with my 2 LO's
Thanks for the prayers. Today is a better day so far.

January 11. I'm just about 6.5 weeks. My nausea seems to have made a comeback today, though. Yuck.

Re: Pregnant Mamas!!!!!!!
Ok, I finally have a minute to log on and post a quick birth story, well, as long as Natalie doesn't wake up too soon
As you all know, contractions, mostly BH ctx, started overnight on the 15th, last Thursday. I thought I might be getting ready to start laboring, but they kept stopping. My water broke Saturday night at 10:30, and I had a few contractions, but nothing significant. Sunday a few more, some quite painful. Finally Sunday night/Monday morning, around 2AM, I started having ctx every 10 minutes, some quite painful. We called the birth center and were told to wait a little longer, and called SIL to come over. She got here around 5AM, the same time ctx stopped again. So I got a little sleep and didn't really have anymore decent ones until close to 8 or 9am. Around noon I called the birth center again because even though they were totally irregular, some of them hurt like heck. They said I could go on in for a check, which we did. Got there about 1pm Monday the 19th. By the time I got there, I was having more regular and strong ctx. He checked me and I was 5cm. He said to go get something to eat and come on back. We went to eat, and walked around the mall. I got tired of people starring at me, probably ready to call 911, when I had a ctx, so we went bakc to the center around 3 and that's when things really got going. By around 5pm I was in transition, and Natalie was born at 6:37.
I pushed for a while, but I wasn't complete. The midwife was using his fingers to push back the last of my cervix so I could push, but that was absolutely excruciating. I would not recommend that to anyone! I labored in the tub the whole time. I could only handle the ctx on my hands and knees. I planned to birth there, too, but ended up in the bed several ctx into pushing. Once I got in the ned, I was complete and pushed her out. It was 12 minutes from the time I was 10 cn. Labor sucked, but it wasn't much worse than I thought. Pushing, however, was very painful. All that stuff about it being a relief is bunk! it sucked! But it was worth it.
We got home about 11pm on Monday night. Natalie's been really fussy until today. She'd not been eating as much as I would have liked either, but she's doing much better with that today. She just spend about half of yesterday fussying and crying. It was heartbreaking. But today she's napping and eating well. Hoping to have my milk in tomorrow.
I think that's all! What a relief to finally have her here!
