Default Exercise support thread--week of 6/29/2008

Good morning, everyone. A Blessed Sunday to you all. I pray that Lana and Sharon are doing well on their moves. It's a new week, and time to set new goals. My goal is to run 23 miles, including an 8 mile long run. I plan to head out shortly for the long run.

I just got back from my 8 mile run, and it went quite well. I beat last week's time by nearly 3.5 minutes.

Anyone else working out this week?

I ran 3 miles this morning, so I'm keeping up with my goals.

Yeah, I am working out. This week has been 30 miles so far and tomorrow will be another 10-20. We will see, I fell today about 10 miles from home and scraped up my knee a bit. I do not think it was bad (does not hurt at least), but by the time I ran the 300 or so yards to the visitor center, half my lower leg was covered with blood and my sock was turning red. Looked really cool , especially when I was too lazy to bother about waiting for the bleeding to stop and ran the 10 miles home with blood covering my leg. I expect my knee will be a bit stiff tomorrow though, so I may only run 10ish miles. That, and I still have a bit of a cold.

Hey, Suat, it's great to hear from you. I cringed when I read about your fall. I bet it hurt quite a bit at the time. I hope it heals quickly.

I'm on track to meet my goal for the week.

Thanks Michael--hi everybody.

Oh my--I think by far, the best workouts out there, is moving. Move your family every now and then, and you too will not only drop a few pounds, but you'll be able to see the areas you really need to work on. Put it this way, I need to do squats big time...It's like I didn't realize how weak my leg strength is until I carried boxes up and down a flight of stairs over and over ...(this townhome has an upstairs) I thought I was in decent shape...but I guess not! Holy cow! My poor hubby--and son. My son, wow...he is strong! All that football training has gotten that kid in great shape, and he was even hurting! All I can say...it's good to be back at work today. lol My hat is off to all who do physical work for a living...seriously. I have a newfound respect after moving last year and over the weekend...for all those who do construction, etc...

Anyways...I'm excited -- our new subdivision, which is just 2 miles up the road from where we lived--has a fitness center..yay! Once I'm not so sore...lol...I'm definitely going to take advantage of it...and sell some of teh equipment we have.

Have a great week, everyone!

Sharon, welcome back. I hate moving, for all the reasons you've mentioned. Not only is it a great workout, but it seems to never end. But I'm glad you're back, and OK. I wonder how Lana's move went. I have another friend, here on CAF, who was moving this past weekend, too. It was a very "moving" weekend, I guess.

Hey everybody,
It's been a couple of weeks and I am starting to feel worse & worse. I don't know what's goin' on but I can't get motivated to exercise or to eat healthy. It's driving me nuts (and driving my waistline out)!!!

Hi, Nick. I've been wondering about you. Is the summer heat having an affect on you?Maybe you just need to spend more time in prayer asking God to strengthen you. We can't do this alone. We need His help. And remember, we're here for you as well.

haha--yes, it must have been.

I marvel that my stomach muscles hurt...as if I did 700 stomach crunches. What on earth is that about?

I am excited to get back in the exercise groove again, but my body needs some serious rest. ha

Nice to see you all here.

Hmmmm . . . you must've been lifting boxes. Lots of boxes. The good news is that you'll feel better in a few days.

HELLO...I'm Back!!!!

finally moved, finally have tv and internet...just waiting for the phone! All the basics are set up...beds, kitchen, livingroom and a kitty space!

Just have to unpack EVERYTHING else....

Slow and steady wins the race....

Sooooo tired, and the move was HUGE...i was unable to lift a thing, so the packing was done as they lifted things. I'd fill a bag, and had areas....Garbage, Farm (storage), Apartment...

The two men and my husband worked so hard for 2.5 days!

My husband asked to be driven to the store to get a 12 of beer when we were all done...I just could not say no...i simply asked him to drink it at the farm.

DH paid the other workers 250 each for helping...i was shocked!
But i was very apreciative of this act, as he usually does not do things like this. That is a LOT of money for us, so for him to do this was to please me, as i had arranged for the help.

I never stopped thanking him for all of the strenuous work he did, and took time off work to move...but he has slept at the farm for two days...one more day, and the 12 will be out of his system.

Prayers were so apreciated, as it was high stress, and DH was good to everyone...out of character really...I think he might have been a hermit in his previous life.

Ok, rambling, but glad to be back!

lana

LANA, WELCOME BACK!!! I've been wondering how it went. I'm glad you got all that extra help. It'll be great when you finally get settled in, but the hardest part is past you now.

Hi Lana--welcome back, and glad to see you're done with the move...we moved too over the weekend..oh my gosh, it was brutal. But, as you post here--slow and steady wins the race. I did about an hour's worth of unpacking tonight, and cleaning...and tomorrow, I'll do more. My husband said he'll do an hour before he goes to work, and the kids' rooms are slowly coming along, but we are all pretty tired. Can you spell ADVIL? hahaha I was aching big time today. Glad to see it is complete for ya, now.

As far as my workout tonight, I went for a brisk walk...a little over a mile, nothing major as I wanted to get back to do some unpacking. On Friday...going to check out the fitness club

I gained 12 lbs in the move from fast food! EEEEKK!!!!!!!!

Oy...but i am hopeing it is off by next week...sodium based foods are easier to get rid off if attended to right away. I can tell by the size of my ankle, and the pressure on my diaphram with breathing. A constant shortness of breath...over full feeling.

So i have a goal...get it off so i can breathe better in this humidity.

Lana
