Yep, I added it to mine a few days ago. I think it's a good idea
God bless you too.

Actually, I think I was the first and GemmaRose was the second.
...But you might be right. This goes back to the 20th of June, 2008.
As far as I'm concerned, she's the one who should get credit for promoting it, whether I was first or not.
Haha... whatever.... silliness

Um, I'm still not sure how to identify myself as part of the HLS Club on my signature (but I was able to add a nice picture to it!)

Can I join? Not officially Catholic yet, so I'm not sure if you'd all want me to wait until my confirmation...

What are EENS? and what is a full-Feeney? Sounds like the "little people" in Ireland.

EENS = Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus, "Outside the Church there is no Salvation"
A "full-Feeney" (although I'm not sure how acceptable that term is) would be someone who says "Outside the Church there is no Salvation", and takes it to mean that explicit membership in the Catholic Church is absolutely necessary for salvation, otherwise the person goes to hell.

EENS means extra ecclesiam nulla salus, meaning "outside the Church, there is no salvation". It is an actual Catholic doctrine, however various theologians have taken it upon themselves to give it different meanings.
Fr. Feeny believed that one had to be a fully professing Catholic in order to obtain salvation; however, this interpretation is contrary to the teaching of the Church (a sedevacantist would obviously argue otherwise) in light of the numerous Popes using this phrase. A number of Popes simultaneously taught that those persons who are not visibly Catholic might still yet be saved by what might be called a baptism of desire ( baptismus flaminis), or even by the baptism by blood ( baptismus sanguinis) which enabled the sainthood of many non-baptized persons in the most earliest times of the Church.
The official teaching is expressed in Section 1, Article 2, Part VI of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, most especially in paragraphs 1258-1260.
Hope that helps! Haha.

Yes, all the above info helps. It also jogged my memory, such as it is.
I looked up your reference. The actual paragraph which needs to be quoted above all others is paragraph 1257 last line.
Too many senior moments -- But isn't there another section in the Catechism that refers to Jesus Christ as Universal Savior? I know that in 2000, The Declaration " Dominus Iesus" [sic] On the Unicity [sic] and Salvific Universality of Jesus Christ and the Church" was published by the Vatican.
As I recall, it said that all Salvation comes through Jesus Christ. This is very different than saying: "outside the Church, there is no salvation"
Senior moment solved. I had mentioned the above declaration in an article on the Marks of the Catholic Church for our parish bulletin and actually (believe it or not) found a copy in my files. I listed CCC paragraphs 811-870 as one of the sources for my article.
Please check out at least paragraph 819 and let me know what you think. It still seems to me that I have seen another reference some place in the CCC.
Blessings,
granny
