Default Exercise support thread--week of 7/27/2008

Good morning, everyone, and a Blessed Sunday to you all. The new thread means new goals. So, here goes:

Don't be shocked, but Ihave no plans to run this week. I'm leaving this morning for a week of camping and hiking in Yosemite. My goal this week is to stand atop Half Dome.

I'll be offline all week, so everyone behave until I get back. Have a wonderful week.

Please Michael, have a safe trip...and i have to say it...from your last message to me, i was invisioning you with the big swammie hat that Johnny Carson used to wear when you said you were able to read me...hehe!

Now, will the hat fit in your luggage?

I'm aiming for 2,000 calories a day to go with 5 days of exercise.

Micahel--that sounds like an awesome trip planned! Hiking is a great workout too, so don't forget to count it on here.

I have been keeping up with my 'power' walks, and we brought up my bike for spinning into the bedroom, as it was taking up unnecessary space in our new garage...but so far, it's been used mainly as a clothes hanger. I really need to get back into weights too...and mixing up my cardio more. My foot is healing slightly, hopefully, by fall I can ease into running again--I miss it so!

Have a blessed week all!

Hi, everyone. I'm back! You've all been quiet in my absence.

My trip was awesome, but I didn't make it to the top of Half Dome. From camp to the top was 8.5 miles, and I made it about 7.5 miles, but couldn't continue due to severe soreness in my right hip joint. So I headed back to camp. 15 mile round trip.

On Wednesday, I hiked alone from the Valley, up the side of a mountain from which Yosemite Fall flows (a nearly 3,000 foot climb), then from there into the high country. By the time I reached a highway, I had hiked about 16 miles. I hitchhiked a ride back to the valley.

It was truly an awesome trip, and a fantastic retreat. Since I was alone most of the time, I got to spend a lot of time in prayer and spiritual reading.

My feet are very blistered, so I'm not sure when I'll be able to run again. Stay tuned.

Michael, i am indeed very proud of you and your efforts. Somehow i missed that it was a retreat. Planned many since i was a teen, but never ever went to one. It all comes down to the mighty buck and a sitter. At times i have managed one, but not the two together. I am curious to what kind, and what you gained from it though...unless it was a personal, i understand.

again, congratulations!

Hi, Lana;

It was originally planned as a camping trip with a bunch of friends. But one by one, they all dropped out for a variety of reasons. So I decided to go alone, and make it a personal retreat. No agenda. Just a lot of time to hike, pray, and read spiritual books. I felt God calling me to a deeper devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, as well as Mary. He also spoke these words to me:

Quote:
Place My heart in Your heart, and let it grow, until it takes over all actions of your heart. The heart supplies all life to the entire body, and I want My heart to supply life to your entire body. Let My heart be your heart.

WOW, how brave of you to go there alone, in the dark...ok, that would be MY greatest fear. Imagine though, the thought of doing what you did...if more could do the same, and with prayer excercise the spirit into a new demention so that he really hears you, and you him.

Simply beautiful. And the request from him, how could you not. I have had similar experiences in prayer, and there is a complete knowing, a full understanding that comes with his words. Like a manual of direction. It is powerful and it is impowering when you think....no matter how much i think i might not be able to do something...the creator of this world feel i can. What an awsome amount of belief he holds for you.

It is definitely where you can overcome any doubt. If the big guy can believe in you, then he also places you where you will need him further...he will always be there if you simply believe he has your back.

Simply awsome Michael...God is good!

Lana
