Default Can you give some info on the end of the world?

My boyfriend and I were both brought up Catholic, but we were taught differently about the end of the world. I was taught that we will not know. He was taught that it will be when the world is fighting the holy lands. Please let me know where he might have gotten this from. I have never heard this answer. This is a cause of great distress because it is affecting whether we will have children when we are married.

Default Re: End of the World

Hi,

There will be strife. So your boyfriend is correct. But you are correct also. St. Matthew writes: "But as for the day and hour, nobody knows it..."(Mt. 24-36) Certainly, worry about the end of the world should not be reason for not having children and giving the opportunity to know the Lord! Good Friday gives us every reason to trust the Lord's love for us. Questions 668 through 679 in the Catechism of the Catholic Church covers all of this. You can order a Catechism through shop.catholic.com or by phone 888 291 8000.

Fr. Vincent Serpa, O.P.
