Record 259 corporations honored for 'gay' support
Yes it is WorldNetDaily but I don't care.

Foundation lauds businesses toeing line of social campaign
The newly released Human Rights Campaign Foundation's Corporate Equality Index, which ranks hundreds of businesses on their "treatment" of employees who have chosen homosexual, lesbian, bisexual and transgender lifestyles, awards a record 259 corporations perfect scores, including newcomers Campbell's Soup and Target.
The total in the 2009 report is up one-third from the 195 corporations so honored in 2008, according to the Human Rights Campaign, which explained that now an estimated nine million workers "are protected from employment discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity or expression because of their employers' policies on diversity & inclusion, training, health care, and domestic partnership benefits."

Maybe it is time to create a societal/economic structure separate from the perverse one we now live in (This is the full poll question).

I'm not sure I follow this, so maybe you can put this in more concrete terms.
Jack works for XYZ Co. Inc., and announces he's gay. what workplace economic benefits do you believe Catholic doctrine would permit or require XYZ Co. to do to, or withdraw from Jack on only the basis of of his announcement?
fire him because he is gay?
fire him because he identifies himself as gay?
deny him health care because he's gay?
deny him training opportunities because he's gay?
not promote him (in grade) because he's gay?

The Human Rights Campaign seeks "fundamental fairness and equality" by advocating for the "rights" of people in alternative sexual lifestyles.

This does seem suspicious, but I'd like to know what exactly the criteria was for this survey. If they're just treating people equally, I don't know if that's a reason to be too concerned. Hard to say. I guess it's clear I voted "maybe".

No, there is no need. We do not need to live in fear of each other, fear of something increases the power of it. Going beyond the fear breaks down artificially created barriers.
There is no need to create a subset societal/economic structure based on this.

Re: Record 259 corporations honored for 'gay' support
Unbelievable at the extreme! Separate societies? Just "who" decides what is perverse and what is not?
I read all the companies listed. I drive a FORD, my husband drives a FORD, my son drives a FORD. My next car will be a FORD. I think Bill Gates is a genius....good for him. I like 3M products. My mother has Allstate insurance...she likes it. My husband drinks Busch beer...he likes it. I love Diet Coke and Clorox bleach is great for whiter whites. My son is an avid gamer....gets his games from Gamestop. When JC Penney has a sale...I'm there. I'm jeans girl, love my Levi's. Starbucks is a no brainer....a real treat when I visit my Target store.
Hmmm.....I wonder where the OP would like this separate society to go.....? Should it be fenced? Should it be guarded by armed guards?
The whole idea is ludacris!

What I am saying is this is another example of the secular society forcing acceptance (not tolerance) of lifestyles condemned by the Church as unacceptable.

Yet the Church is in the world, it is not the world. There is a difference. The Church is just one opinion in our modern day, diverse and accepting society.

Re: Record 259 corporations honored for 'gay' support
peregrinus_WA.....
The United States is not made up of people who are "all" Catholics. What you find perverse, someone else might not. Another may agree a behavior is perverse and choose not to associate with such persons. A person may work with a homosexual and keep it "all" business. I have neighbors who are homosexual....they don't bother me. They don't parade through the streets in tu-tu's and pink umbrellas, just like I don't parade down the street with a roll-a-way bed and my DH and living it up so to speak.
You have to realize, you are living in the United States of America....which does not owe allegience to the doctrines of the Catholic Church....or any other Church. America respects your faith beliefs and affords you the right to express them. The buck stops when you decide that all of it's citizens much adhere to Catholic doctrine. Sounds a bit Middle Eastern to me.

Employment should be based on the ability of one to do the job not on other issues. Included in the ability IMHO is the ability to uphold the statement of faith in a faith based organization. If I need help with a project I don't ask about the persons bedroom practices this as far as I am concerned is a private matter and needs to stay private.
Promotion of persons because of "diversity" and "inclusion" means IMHO that the person looking for a job is being public on personal and private items.
Training should be based on the needs of the job and if the person hired can learn the job not on sexual orientation and gender identity inclusion quotas.
Health care should be based on who in the family (those living under one roof as a family unit) has the better policy available to them.
Domestic partnership benefits is just a redefinition of family benefits because of sexual activity choice. IMHO As long as a persons can prove they are supporting one another (ie. emotional, financial, physical in good times and bad) as families have for generations then the benefits should be available to them. Brothers, sisters, mother&daughter, mother&son, father&daughter, father&son, should also be accepted as family units if same sex partners are eligible. Sexual activity or lack there of should not be used as the basis of "family benefits".

You have brought up an excellent point. I would love to my widowed mom on my DH and mine health insurance policy as "family". She stays with us about 3-6 months out of the year. We (my siblings and I) have an AARP supplement to help her out.
I also agree bedroom practices are "private". Not sure what it has to do with "workplace". I work for Uncle Sam...and you are not allowed to discriminate when it comes to hiring. You also cannot make comments or discuss a co-workers sexual orientation on the job or you will be slapped with an EEO complaint...and you could lose your job.
IMHO...show up for work, do your job, be part of team and go home.
Render to Caesar what it his.....and to God what is His. (goes without saying)

Re: Record 259 corporations honored for 'gay' support
In an ideal world that might be the case, but the fact of the matter is that what you refer to as "bedroom practices" are not just about sex. If you, as a woman, are attracted to men, does that mean that the only implication that has is that enjoy sex with men? Of course not, it is about many other things, and it is no different for anyone else, regardless of their sexuality.
Because of this, the topic of sexual orientation isnt really irrelevant to the workplace, because we dont ask our workers in this country to become mindless robots for 8 hours a day 5 days a week. Socializing takes place in the workplace, even though work is the primary concern. We are human beings. We interact with each other when we are near each other. Does that mean it would be inappropriate for a co worker to mention to another co worker that she has a date with a fellow she knows that evening? Or that she cant grab a quick bite to eat after work because her boyfriend is taking her out to dinner?
That's why the ideal of "the workplace is for work" doesnt really pan out. The workplace isnt just for work.

Ah they joys of moral relativism. Perversion is perversion and we have the right not to have it shoved in our faces. Companies and governments that buckle under by giving "same sex" benefits and rights to not deserve our business or loyalties. That is why a separate social/economic system may be needed

I consider myself Catholic first and an American second. If I was forced to make a choice between the two, I will choose the Catholic Church.

You say potato...I say potahto. Yes you have the right to call it whatever you want. And you also have the right not to have it shoved in your face. When you are a CEO of a company, you can decide how it should dole out the benefits. Keep in mind you will not receive any federal funding because you will be practicing discrimination. This is the way it is.

I don't recall you had to choose one or the other. You are a Catholic first...yes....but you are living in America and the laws of Caesar don't line up to the Church...if so we would cease to have a Republic...we would have a Theocracy. Yeah, that would scare me. I don't do well on a dunking stool....I can't hold my breath too long.....and being burned at the stake because accidently ate contaminated rye doesn't sit well with me either. Also, June Cleavers high heels might be a tad tight on me. Just a thought.

Well, the way things are going in the world, we all (i.e. the world) might be all living under Marxist type Socialism (i.e. Communism) soon.
