Default Exercise support thread--week of 9/28/2008

Good morning, and a blessed Sunday to you all. As we begin a new week, it's time to set our goals for the week. My goals are to run 23 miles, including an 8 mile long run, which I plan to do this morning.

Who's next?

New to this, but perhaps this'll help me to actually DO it.

I'd like to swim for at least 30 minutes four times this week.

Are we accountable on Saturday for actually doing what we said we'd do?

I've committed to power walking for 30 minutes 4 times this week. (They give us the option to walk or read Mon-Thurs at work for 30 minutes, PAID! ) I choose to walk. Our building takes up a city block and four laps is a mile.

Here's one for you, Michael:

My goal this week is to find the courage to open a membership for myself at the "Y" so that i can gain access to the water arobic class and the gym.

The actuality scares the patunias out of me...oh the pitiful looks are horendous in this situation, and i lock myself in my home because of this.

Please pray for me that i do not procrastinate any further on this out of fear and rejection in society.

I'm getting back on track this week...for reals this time. I'm trying to learn to be a bit more flexible with myself. I've found that when I set my goals, particularly for calories, if it looks like I won't make them then I just blow WAY over the top. So my goals are approx. 2,000 calories per day along with running 5 days & TKD 1 day. Sunday (yesterday) will count as my only day off this week.

But then you are not there to please anyone or give in to looks by others - simply simle at them if you think someone is looking. You should be commended for the effort - for getting out there and exercising.

You can do this and you may just love it!

calories kill me too - but I can keep up with the exercise. Just gotta remember that after I am done on the treadmill, the bag of doritos does not need to be consumed for a job well done.
Oh I am weak.

My problem has been that if I mess up & have too many calories at one meal & realize it's going to put me over my 2,000 then I just start eating everything. It's almost like I've been living in this "all or nothing" situation instead of just accepting that I may be a few hundred calories over my goal.

Hi everyone;

I am happy to report that I've been consistent lately with my 'power' walks. Once you get back into the groove, you just make the time for it. It's so easy to get distracted. With my foot nearly healed now, I realized a few weeks ago that I have no more excuses to not work out.

I'm planning to begin running again next week. I would like to start working out during my lunch hour again where I work.

We shall see...

Keep up the great work(outs) everyone. You are my inspiration, ya know.

jrabs...if you don't want those doritos...send them my way...along with that cruise you're skipping. (kidding, I don't need the calories either, but the cruise I could use)

I am sad - no exercise this week. Bronchitis. But I ended last week with 40 miles.

Sorry for that Jrabs...but breathing
takes priority over running!

Hope you are feeling better.

Rammy, I hope you have found the courage to join the "Y".

It is daunting when it seems that everyone around has a beautiful, trim body. Remember though that there's nothing wrong with having a lived in body. I know too well the feeling of being the blob, please go out there and join up, it will be a good thing to do.

Welcome to the group. It's great to have you here. Yes, every Saturday we tar and feather everyone who doesn't meet their goals for the week. Just kidding, of course. We're all about encouragement, not punishment. How did your week go?

I kept on track all week and reached my goal yesterday, so I can take today off.

Ah, so its tar and feathers for me although I think I have some excuse a 3 day sore throat and achey joints virus laid me a little low. Only 2 swims, the second was today and two hours after the swim I though I was going to faint, got onto the bed and slept for nearly 3 hours. Something odd here

Oh well, tomorrow is a new week and start again

That's right. And a new week means a new thread, which you'll find here.
