Exercise support thread--week of 10/5/2008
Good morning, everyone. A Blessed and fit Sunday to you all! Welcome to the week of October 5th. It's time to set goals for the week. My goal is to run 23 miles this week, including an 8 mile long run. However, my wife has suggested that I move my long runs from Sunday to Saturday. So if I do that, starting next weekend, then I'll actually run 31 miles this week. We shall see.

Re: Exercise support thread--week of 10/5/2008
Michael...i see the date is getting closer...1 month, 3 days.
Have you planned the day out. As i remember, you told me your wife does not like surprises.
As for me, went to sign up at the Y, but the staff to see me over the membership financial situation was not in then. Discouraged, i left and have not went back...But i will. I am actually excited now. Heres a nice addition to this...My sister in law is quite depressed over the same issues i am with my husbands family. We find much venting and healing that occurs, but rarely get together.
We bumped into each other, both overweight and short of breath and i told her what i wanted to do. She said she'd love to attend with me. That shocked me, but i was eager to accept this addittion to my plans.
So God has sent me a excercising buddy...cool!

Hi, Lana. How delightful to see you. You always brighten my day.
I just got back from my 8 mile run. It rained here yesterday, so this morning was overcast and cool; perfect for a run.
No, we haven't made any plans for our anniversary. We don't have much money, so it'll probably be dinner out, and no gifts. We'll see.

Re: Exercise support thread--week of 10/5/2008
My goals this week are to use the work-gym at lunch time, 3 days this week. I will make sure to pack my gym bag tonight!
And two days trying to get back into running. My foot is 99% healed...some stiffness on occasion, but nothing like before.
Hope everyone sticks to their goals.
Remember Turkey Day is right around the corner, with lotsa goodies...I want these nagging last 10 lbs off before then, so I can of course gain 5 back during the holidays.
Have a blessed week, all!
HERE'S THE HEALTH!

Then go for the notes or something left for her to find all day. Like in her lunch if she works, on her makeup mirror, in her change purse, in her coat pocket. Even a call durring the day. A flower on her pillow etc...
It means so much to be remembered, and feel special...of course, i can plan the best ones, as i have yet to impliment any...lol
The plans for the gym are all the more nescesary to get help with. One more company has us at the mercy of credit bureau. They want 656 like now...that is so hard for us to come up with, and i thought this month was going to have breathing space.
Well November should be...there is no one else left to owe to!
 Everyones found us!
Dang!

Re: Exercise support thread--week of 10/5/2008
So far, so good this week. I ended yesterday at around 1,800 calories. I'm on pace to be around 1,800 again today. No exercise yesterday. Ran this morning.
I'm going for some craziness this week. Regular workouts Mon, Weds, & Thurs. Double workouts on Tues, Fri, & Sat, maybe Thurs too if I have enough time.

That's definitely a good thing. Plus you get to hang out with your sister.

Re: Exercise support thread--week of 10/5/2008
I wish it was my sister...she lives on the east coast right next to the ocean...but i get your point...
It's my sister in law, and both of us are feeling engulfed in the family dinamics of old school european farm culture that was so focused on getting by, and nothing else. Both families are not in this place, and both women are raising their childre alone...and feel just as alone in our marriages.
It has made us both feel so deftly insignificant in the dinamics of marriage, and it shows physically on both of us.
we both have decided a while ago, it was time to get stronger, alone...there is no changing the situation as far as we'd want. Our husbands see us merely as who is the house keeper, nanny and to do our part, and that included stroking their ego at every turn. When we do not, then a sulking ignorant stomping, shouting, door slamming child comes out of them.
So it will never be, i will never be loved, never be held out of desire, never have a friend or compannion, never have anyone to lean on...my dreams of this happiness are forever gone, and not meant to be...so it is time to build my life alone.
Time to get myself out of debt, loose weight, and heal, save up, re-educate, and then if i am self sufficient...walk away from everything that i prommised to God.
I am in hopes that along the way of this plan, something of divine nature might save me and my marriage, that is in paper only right now...at least for 5 years now.
I am soooo tired, and have yet to even move!
Lana

I am new to the thread but find similar goals with those who are trying to deal with "life" Rather it be family, or friends we all have our triggers. I am trying to lose 30 lbs after a long period of illness. I will set my goal of riding my bike 6 miles a day. Stretching more and eating less calories. I appreciate your openess. We are all in the same boat so to speak. Have a great week!

Re: Exercise support thread--week of 10/5/2008
You people are making me tired with all this running. I've got bad feet & knees. Was able to keep fit at work until layoff in Feb. I thought I might be gaining # but was surprised at Dr. check-up that I'd actually lost since March visit. With all the sitting at this keyboard hunting & applying for work & on this sight, I know I need a regular exercise routine but recall a procrastination thread & I'll go there while I think about this!

Re: Exercise support thread--week of 10/5/2008
Hello all! It's been ages since I've posted to this recurring thread.
I have my usual goals for the week: Step classes Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. So far I've got Monday done. Work permitting Thursday won't be an issue. My wife and I consider ourselves lucky that a decent gym opened in our little town about a year ago. We don't have to travel as far anymore.
I'm also very happy that about a month ago our office was allowed to use the cafeteria next door. It has an outstanding salad bar -- the kind where you pay by weight. There's a huge variety with lots of tasty veggies. At breakfast it hosts a "breakfast bar" with fresh fruits, yogurts, granola, cottage cheese, etc. Whether breakfast or lunch, the price has been competitive.

Not a good day for me. My double workout day turned into a NO workout day. And on top of that I consumed a TON of calories. Tomorrow is another day...

Re: Exercise support thread--week of 10/5/2008
So far, I'm on track to reach my goal. I've run 17 miles so far this week. Just 6 to go.
John Walsh, welcome. What kind of exercise can you do? I get quite a workout by beating around the bush.
sbilik, welcome back. It's been a while. How's everything going? That cafeteria sounds really great.
Nick, what can we do to help you stick to the plan? We're here for you, my friend.
