Thumbs up Songs for cheering yourself up

Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World", the Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What you Want", B.B. King's "I'll Survive"... that kinda stuff.

What's the doctor's prescription, for one this?

Smile Re: Songs for cheering yourself up

One that comes to mind & puts a smile on my face is Granny Clampet's " Joy, joy, joy, down in my Heart". I think they should have completed it & cut a single.

Another is "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" when things are overwhelming or out of control.

hello all,
Songs to cheer myself up-----that is a tough choice. I think the one that comes to mind is by Roy Orbison called----"You are so Beautiful".

It is sad and sweet and uplifting all at the same time! I like that Louis Armstrong one mentioned here as well----"What a Wonderful World".

Guilty pleasure..........the final movement of Beethoven's Symphony #9 aka the Ode to Joy. Never fails to cheer me up and I sing the tenor line with gusto.

For the past few years, my favorite pick-me-up song is "Hail Mary/Gentle Woman" by Daughters of God. The arrangement of this particular version is awesome and makes me glow with love for our Blessed Mother!

Bro will admit to guilty pleasure with Barbara Ann. I am also a big fan of the British folk rock group from the 70's - Steeleye Span.

I love Steeleye Span. Still buy their CDs. DW and I were SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) back in the 70s and 80s. (Medievalists). I clean house by Steeleye Span and sing along lustily. Soundtrack of my youth!

Most of the songs Steeleye Span sang back in those days were English folk songs from the "Childe Ballads" which was published in the 18th century. I have umpteen Steeleye Span CDs and records (yes, my turntable still works!). Great housecleaning music!

I like the really loud stuff that gets the adrenaline and endorphins going - so something like 'Born to be Wild' by Steppenwolf or 'Lust for Life' by Iggy Pop (with appropriate loud off-key singing and stage-type antics around the loungeroom) are the thing.

Hmmm ... just may be why I live on my own!

Oh, the place is reasonably well soundproofed, so I don't think they can hear ... at least I haven't gotten any complaints or dirty looks from any of 'em. And they DID let me know when my front door was really squeaky (sad to say I didn't notice ... may be going deaf or something ) so I think they'd have told me if I was assaulting their delicate eardrums
