Exercise support thread--week of 10/12/2008
Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ. Today begins a new week of honoring God by honoring the Temple of the Holy Spirit. For me, today also marks the unofficial beginning of winter. The winter winds started up during the night last night, preventing me from going out for my usual Sunday long run. So I ran 3 miles on the treadmill, and I'll have to do my long run on another day this week, probably Wednesday.
Anyhoo, it's time to set our goals for the week. I plan to run 23 miles, including that elusive 8 mile long run.

Re: Exercise support thread--week of 10/12/2008
Can anyone help me?
Nervously, i do not follow politics, but realize the need to vote.
In the Niagara area (Canada), we have to vote tommorrow, and i thought it was a few weeks away. I have asked here before, but i will need to ask again. Can anyone here help me in how best to support the Catholic Church with my vote tommorrow?
Thank you...
Lana

Re: Exercise support thread--week of 10/12/2008
Two hours later, and many read links, i had this one placed before me. It was so easy. Insert district, and wa la...all the candidates were listed, and even gave a list of what they believe in.

Sad, the man i will be voting for, i have never heard of before, yet he was the only pro-lifer in the group.
so i guess i am ready...

Re: Exercise support thread--week of 10/12/2008
So far, I'm keeping up with my running this week. I hope to do my long run tomorrow morning.
Lana, good job finding the election materials. We have quite a bit of helpful information here, as well. Like you, I vote pro-life, and sometimes I have to vote for someone I have little knowledge of, because he/she may be the only pro-life candidate. Our election is next month, so I still have some time to get ready.

Re: Exercise support thread--week of 10/12/2008
Hi there. No one else wants to chime in with goals?
I am doing good - at least being consistant with the exercise. I am coming up a bit short so far for my October goals so I am going to have to get to the gym a tad earlier then 6am to make up the difference.
I am shooting for about 120 miles a month. I am down about 20 becuase I was sick for a week. Now I am all business at 6am - you best get off me treadmill.

Hi, Jenn. It's great to see you. Congrats on the weight loss, even if it wasn't the best way to get there.
It must be Autumn. No one wants to set goals.

Oh man - no weight loss. I am only down 20 miles in my goal.
I'd have to be really sick to lose 20 lbs.

You know as odd as it is, I do far better with exercise in the winter and the cold. If I am bored or have no errands, I hop on my treamill at home and do a few miles while I watch TV.
In the summer though, this part of the country gets such a small window of pleasant weather, I find it almost a waste to spend it in the gym or inside. That's why I switched my gym time to the morning before work. I am not missing anything but sleep.
You folks in warmer areas are really blessed.

Oops, I misunderstood. Well, if SUAT was here, he could help you make up that distance in one day.

Well, not in the summer. When I do my long runs in the summer, I have to get up pre-dawn so I can beat the heat. The warm, dry weather just sucks the energy right out of me if I run too late.

yep - you are so right - though I would have to take the rest of the week off to recover from a 40 mile run.

If I did a 40 mile run, I'd have to take a month off to recover. Once again, you've impressed me.

Did I mention that my week of recovery would be in the hospital room with IV drips?
Nope the most I feel I can push out in a day is about 10 miles. Then I feel my muscles get fatigued and bedtime is at 9 - for the safety of my family and the preservation of my new marriage.
No one in my household tolerates a cranky woman. Not even the kitties.

Glad to help...it took others here a few hours to help me. Most links were for American candidates. I am not experienced in doing this alone without someone telling me how best to vote. This time, there was not enough time to even ask. This link told me everything i needed to know, and more. Like i did not know what the 5 non negotiables actually were. Now i do.
*insert thread police here*
*hyjacking in progress*
*sorry officer, it won't happen again*
*at least not untill next election...hehe*
