Depression?
I believe I have a disorder in the depression spectrum, but I would really like to talk to an accredited psychologist or psychiatrist. I don't really have any money, and free resources are limited for people with depression unless they are suicidal. I have questions that I would really like to ask to a mental health professional that I feel like I can trust. I figured this forum would be a good place to look. So if there is a psychologist/psychiatrist out there who has all of the appropriate credentials and wouldn't mind private messaging with me about my situation whenever you are available, please let me know. In the mean time, I would like to request any prayers or advice that the general public has for people suffering from depression.

Re: Depression?
Ahannah, I have a husband who had a stress breakdown and suffers from long-term chronic fatigue and depression so have some idea of what a heavy burden this is. I hope you find professionals able to help but I do know that some of our CAF regulars have battled/battle with depression.
I am pleased to pray for you. If you wish to, you would be welcome to post requesting prayer in the Prayer Intentions Forum. If you wish I could post a prayer request there for you...it's my primary forum.
Or if you find your psychiatric disorder has any impact on your spiritual needs, the Spirituality forum may be a good place to post as I know one of our most knowledgeable sufferers who has found ways to deal with her own issues, does particularly post in Spirituality.
Bless you for your graciousness in posting your need, so eloquently, on this forum. I pray that the Holy Spirit guides anyone who can benefit you.
Warm regards, Trishie

Re: Depression?
Solicitation or offering of advice as to the diagnosis of disease, the effectiveness of medications, or the efficacy of various therapeutic interventions, modalities, and regimens is not permitted on the forums. While generally well-intentioned, it can have potentially serious reprecussions.
Whether the matter at issue involves recognized, experimental, or unproven therapeutic modalities, matters relative to diagnosis and treatment of both physical and emotional disorders are very individualized and cannot be safely generalized to a description on the internet of an individual's symptoms, circumstances, or situation. Additionally, there is a clear-cut risk involved in accepting, relying, or acting on the expressed opinions of those who either lack relevant professional qualifications and credentials, or whose claims to such cannot be validated. Similarly, the experience or response of others in what appears to be a similar or identical set of circumstances is not an accurate measure of its applicability to someone else's situation.
Effectively monitoring such threads is neither practical nor realistic. Tolerating them could cause a poster, relying on proferred advice, to take steps that might mitigate symptomatology, rather than seek out a diagnostician and validate the presence or absence of treatable pathology. That risk is both legally and morally unacceptable.
Persons in need of medical or psychiatric advice are advised to consult their primary care provider, or another reputable practitioner in the appropriate specialty, and work with them to establish a diagnosis and plan of treatment.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
