I have a dry wit so it should come as no great surprise that I have dry sandwiches as well. That's when it comes to cold cuts anyway as a general rule.

For me, it usually depends on what kind of cold cuts or meat is on the sandwich. For turkey, I usually use mayo. But on ham, I'll use mustard.

The only time I use cold cuts is when I make muffalatas. Then I use creole mustard and olive salad.

Yeah, Tantum Ergo, perhaps choice of spread IS a function of personality. Myself, I have a sharp tongue, so I prefer Dijon and even straight horseradish sometimes with mine.

Oh yeah, and I can be pretty biting and bitter too, so I will put gobs of watercress on whenever possible as well!

LOL. . .I can only speak for myself. . .but I don't see biting and bitter in your posts as a rule--just nice and bracing.

if cold cuts means misc. lunchmeat from plastic packages I don't eat it, I get low sodium deli smoked turkey, ham, sometimes roast beef or turkey pastrami. Turkey wtih mayo, the rest w/spicy brown mustard. Hot dogs with Stadium brand mustard (shipped in from a gourmet ballpark in Cleveland). Sometimes I cook a turkey breast just so I can make sandwiches (with lettuce and mayo on white bread or sourdough). If I am making sandwiches for a crowd on sub buns or kaiser rolls, I use turkey and ham, mayo on the turkey side, honey mustard on the ham side, smoked munster in the middle.

When I use bread, cold cut condiments are brown mustard & mayo with the exception of bologna which dresses in ketchup & mayo. For most of the last 10 years, I usually just roll 2 or 3 slices, even to pack for lunch, & enjoy without bread.

It depends on the sandwich meat, but for most sandwiches, I use Miracle Whip.

I enjoy horseradish on an Arby's sandwich along with their famous Arby's Sauce.
