Default Exercise Support Thread Week of 12/21/2008

Happy New Week!

It may be Christmas week, but still need to stay focused on our workouts, perhaps more than ever. So, let's start by setting our goals for the week. And let's also be realistic. Don't set goals that you can't keep.

I'm taking today off, as we're having some family over today, and there's a lot to be done to get ready. So my goal for the week is to run 15 miles.

Have a wonderful Christmas, everyone.

To be realistic:

Get to swim at all this week, even once will be 100% better than last week!

Will start some toning exercises that I can do at home this week.

Also will start taking note of what I eat and when - I'm sure my crazy eating habits are not helping with the attempt to get the weight off!

An interesting approach to those of us who have a large amount of weight to lose: start by just trying to lose 10% of your current body weight. Its more manageable than the whole amount you need to lose. Once you've done that, lose another 10%, etc.

That how Weight Watchers starts. And it does work well. 10% can make a big difference, and boost one's confidence.

I heard about the 10% principle before I joined Weight Watchers, but I must say WW was the very best for me, I must get back onto doing it properly!

A tip my DD came up with for when your eating pattern have gotten all messed up is just to get one mealtime right at a time. So you focus, say, on breakfast and once you're eating a good breakfast go on to the next meal.

All the 'tricks' we have to resort to just to do what we know is right for our bodies

I woke up this morning with a splitting headache, so I couldn't run. My wife suggested it was the rain that moved in this morning. Now I won't reach my goal this week unless I run on Christmas morning, which I wasn't planning to do.

I'm doing fine so far today. I did an hour of weights this morning. I'm at 1,010 calories & have just dinner left. I'm SERIOUSLY hoping to get back on track this week (what a week to start huh?). I can't keep going like this cuz it's getting ugly. If I gain back any more weight I'm going to have to go buy some new clothes.

I ate waaaay too much on Christmas...and today, too. My sister came to visit and brought all of these delectable Italian goodies from this gourmet shop near her house in south florida...ugh, to die for food, people! But, my sister is an avid runner...and we went for a power walk yesterday. It was great. I was a bit sluggish though, I have to admit, I have slacked off these past two weeks. My new year's resolution is going to be to stick with my workouts...no matter what. I want to become the avid runner I ONCE WAS.

Here's to growing in holiness everyone, and in health. God bless! Hope everyone had a blessed Christmas day.

What a disaster the week was!!

Out of the blue on Sunday morning a sore throat developped. Became gradually worse, and the ensuing cough bordered on bronchial. Lucky I had some of the cough mixture the doctor recommended. By Christmas Day I was exhausted, came back from work at 2.30, slept till 8, showered and went back to sleep.

Spent Friday and Saturday with a friend, lots of walking and we ate really healthy meals too.

Finally woke feeling a lot better this morning. Here's hoping this will be a better week!

It looks like I'm not the only one who had a rough week. Besides eating too much, I only ran 9 miles. Thank God it's time to start a new week. The new thread is here.
