Default Question about Forum posting

Hi, everyone, I'm new here. I love this Forum, but I'm a bit confused about some things on the posts. For example, when I see my posts, at the upper right, there's a little blue square, and when you click on it, the message comes out: Aurelia has yet to get the apologetical motor in gear." What does that mean?
Also, on everyone else's post there's a little white triangle, like a caution sign, and when you click on it, it says "Report bad post." The triangle is missing from my posts. Does that mean I've been reported for a bad post? (The only thing I can think of which might have caused that is the contribution I made to the joke thread, when I meant to write a word beginning with the letter S, but the rest of the word came out in asterisks, like this:s****. That was a typo. I wasn't swearing, honest!)
So, can somebody please explain this stuff for me? Thank you.

I think the underlying assumption is that people won't report their own posts as being bad.

The little blue square reports your 'reputation' on the forum. You can give someone (and receive from others) reputation points for posts. If you like someone's post you click the reputation button and add to their reputation. The squares report your current reputation. First, when you get enought 'points' you go from blue to green, then as you keep rising, you get squares added. Check out a post by Karl Keating to see what someone with a 'real' reputation looks like

The bad post button is for reporting bad posts to the moderator. I suspect it's absent from your posts when you are viewing because, hey,'Why would you want to report yourself for a bad post.' I can see the button on your posts when viewing, but not on my own.

Hope that helps.

Look in the "Comments, Questions, & Kudos" forum for threads on "Reputation."

That means posters don't have the ability to report on themselves.

p.s., I'll be moving this thread over to the "Comments, Questions..." forum shortly.

It shows a triangle on my posts, even when I'm logged in.

Yes, many circumstances have changed over the last 5-1/2 years. The Reputation System is also long gone.

Yeah, I didn't notice that this was just a really old thread that someone had resurrected until it was too late to go back and edit my post. My bad.
