Re: St. Monica, Pray for us!
PRAYER TO ST. MONICA
Dear St. Monica,
troubled wife and mother,
many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime.
Yet, you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence, and profound faith,
you prayed daily for the conversion
of your beloved husband, Patricius,
and your beloved son, Augustine;
your prayers were answered.
Grant me that same fortitude, patience,
and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for me, dear St. Monica,
that God may favorably hear my plea for
saving my marriage from divorce
and grant me the grace to accept His Will in all things,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
Amen

Re: St. Monica, Pray for us!
My sisters in Christ...
What an incredible blessing I have found here. This is my first post and, as you can see by my name, I hope to cling to St. Monica's guidance for my life. I can't believe this was the first post I saw after registering with the site, and I know this is a blessing from God.
To begin...
Dear St. Monica,
troubled wife and mother,
many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime.
Yet, you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence, and profound faith,
you prayed daily for the conversion
of your beloved husband, Patricius,
and your beloved son, Augustine;
your prayers were answered.
Grant me that same fortitude, patience,
and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for me, dear St. Monica,
that God may favorably hear my plea for
the return of my husband to Christ and the protection of my future offspring
mothers and fathers who have left the Church,
and whose decision to leave the Church has
taken their children from it
and grant me the grace to accept His Will in all things,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
Amen
I married a protestant last year within the Traditional Rite (many months of pre-cana to do so) but unfortunately, my husband descended into atheism very rapidly. Our relationship struggles to get by, and the only thing that keeps us together is our commitment to each other and love. However, he has expressed that he's concerned our relationship will not survive this discord, and has even "complained" that if I was "more liberal" about my beliefs, it would be easier for him to manage. I will not become "more liberal" simply to appease my husband when my goal is to make God happy.
I am frustrated and feel this is an enormous injustice. He relies on new atheists on the internet to get him by, and spends the majority of his free time reading up on evolution, laughing at apologists, and everything each of you have probably encountered on the internet. He says he is open to the truth, and if I could give him a reasonable philosophical argument for the existence of God, he'd listen. But then the problem occurs that he doesn't listen. He says I don't want the truth, that I'm brainwashed, etc, but this couldn't be farther than the truth.
I ask each of you to please pray to Our Father and Our Immaculate Mother and to St. Monica, St. Jude and St. Rita for this almost impossible situation. My husbands soul can indeed be lost if he continues to reject Christ. I am afraid and often feel alone - but I hope in time I can grow to know each of you and to help pray for your intentions, too.
God bless each of you abundantly in your ministries to your family And thank you for listening.

I'm sorry things are so rough. Keep praying -- it may take your whole life (like St. Monica) but hopefully he will open his heart to God before then!
Jennifer Fulwiler is an former atheist-turned Catholic, and she blogs at Conversion Diary and writes for the National Catholic Register.
Maybe your husband would enjoy reading her stuff -- she has a good perspective (and arguments against atheism ) and she's pretty funny.
Please read up on Servant of God Elisabeth Leseur -- she was a devout Catholic married to an atheist. The story of her and her husband's life is amazing and incredibly inspiring!

Re: St. Monica, Pray for us!
Exemplary Mother of the great Augustine, thou perseveringly pursued thy wayward son not with wild threats but with prayerful cries to heaven. Intercede for all mothers in our day so that they may learn to draw their children to God. Teach them how to remain close to their children, even the prodigal sons and daughters who hath sadly gone astray. Amen.

Re: St. Monica, Pray for us!
St. Monica, pray not only for DH who's fallen away, but for me as well in my own dissention in matters of chastity. We have always struggled with this sin, but it's been really dominant lately and there's a lot more on the line for us lately than normal for which I feel we are bringing God's curse and judgement on our marriage and family. Pray for us for God's mercy and strength against this sin!

Re: St. Monica, Pray for us!
Happy Feast Day St. Monica! Thank you for your prayers for our fallen-away loved ones, and for the conversion of non-Catholics! Thank you for your patience as you prayed for your own husband and son.
