Exercise Support Thread Week of 3/1/2009
Howdy, folks. The weather is warming up, and for some of us, that means an opportunity to get outside for our exercise. We're expecting a high of 82 today. So I'm heading out early for my long run (10 miles).
It's time to set our goals for the week. My goals for this week are to run 25 miles, including today's 10 mile run.

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been purchased at a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body."
ICorinthians 6:19-20
Dear God, give me courage
for perhaps I lack it more than anything else.
I need courage against challenging times
and against seductions.
I need courage to bear unkindness,
mockery, contradiction.
I need courage to fight against the devil,
against terrors and troubles, temptations,
attraction, darkness and false lights,
against tears, depression and above all fear.
I need Your help, dear God.
Strengthen me with Your love and Your grace.
Console me with Your Blessed Presence
and grant me the courage to persevere
until I am with you forever in heaven.

It is easier on knees and excellent on working heart, legs and buttocks.
I am praying for more courage to persevere.

Re: Exercise Support Thread Week of 3/1/2009
I'm halfway through the 28 day exercise routine, so my goal is to complete the next quarter this week, one morning at a time.
I would have said 5 x 30 minute swims, but this afternoon the sand storm was so bad that I decided travelling on a major freeway in poor visibility was not a good idea (my guardian angel has enough to contend with when vbisibility is good and I'm on that road) - so the best I can aim for is 4 swims as a minimum, unless I fit one in next weeked.

Today here in Tampa Bay area is oddly enough chilly and very windy...the door blew open when dd and I went for a walk today. I thought someone was trying to break in.
DD came with me on my brisk walk today...went nearly 3 miles...I read recently that it's not good to do a strenuous workout every day...but to do strenuous one day, the next a moderate workout...and throw an easy day in there now and again, so your muscles don't get used to things.
Keep up the good work people...have an awesome week.

Awww, thanks
I enjoy it so much (once the drive there is done) that it seems more like fun than *workout*

That makes it even better. I agree. I really have found my groove again...I love power walking, jogging, (running but easing back to that) and strength training, and the stability ball has given me so many options to that, instead of boring lifting of weights...up down up down. I think finding something we love to do will cause us to stick with it.

It certainly makes it easier if you are doing something you enjoy.

Re: Exercise Support Thread Week of 3/1/2009
Thank you, Beautiful, for keeping that prayer in front of us. It's an awesome prayer.
I did my 10 mile run yesterday, and 3 miles on the treadmill today. The 10 mile run was my longest run since last June. So I drove to the local community college and ran on their rubberized track. It was still exhausting.

I am amazed. That is one long haul. Good for you. We are all very proud of you.

Impressive Michael. Please send some warmth this way...was below -20 here this morning.
Friday night we walked to church and back for mass and stations ( a mile each way ) and my nose almost fell off (BRRRR)
Well have been good with the workouts....but eating wise was not very good on the weekend...
Anyways today is another week back to it again

Re: Exercise Support Thread Week of 3/1/2009
Hey everyone;
I agree with jrabs, Michael...we are all proud of you , and looks like you are now a forum master...how did you get that title? Do tell...do tell.
I powerwalked yesterday for about 3 miles...nothing today. I decided Mondays and Fridays will be off days, on full workweeks...if I take vacation days, I'll go for 6 day workout weeks...but 5 seems to work well for me.
I hope everyone is doing well.
PS--I love the prayer you posted, Beautiful.
God bless!
