...Okay, I'm studying under some pretty bright professors at a pretty stout and solid university known for their research and academics. I could post a pretty lengthy post on this. The bottom line is; the CO2 levels mankind has put in the atmosphere since about the 1950's (significantly) has shifted the greenhouse effect. It is changing the climate.
True, the CO2 levels have always risen and fallen in roughly 100,000 year cycles. The global temperatures, of course, fluctuate on this. People arguing that Climate change doesn't exist always point to these facts. But, that's not the half of it. The cycles are being effected by the man-made CO2. It is effecting the clmate.
The trouble is, the public really can't understand the science behind it, it's been politicized, voices are being silenced, and people just don't want to imagine what will happen when they find out there is hard science confirming this.
What would be better is scientist debating scientists, and no anti-climate change scientists ever step up to the plate. There isn't any. Most of the loud voices talking anti-climate change are people like Rush Limbaugh or the Koch brothers. ...
and people believe them.
And BTW: It's called "Climate Change now by scientists because that is the more tangible immediate threat. The ocean only has to go up 2 degrees and hurricane wind speeds generated
double. The public doesn't react to the phrase "Global warming" when they only experience a .5 degree increase in their lifetime.
It's not like the average air temperature will get hotter and hotter. It's more like storms will get more severe, rain patterns will shift, drought will increase in some areas. This all effects the food yields, food prices, and crop viability. The food is the main thing in all of this.
It's sad that America is so split politically now. Every single issue seems to get this Democrat or Republican stamp on it. This country is in a deep mess, it's politicizing hard science. It's politicizing gay marraige. It's politicizing bailouts. It's politicizing religious freedoms.
...And now they're predicting an even more polarized congress with the retiring of moderates. This country is a mess. It can't get anything done anymore.
