Default Exercise Support Thread Week of 3/15/2009

Welcome to the new thread, everyone. It's time to set our goals for the week. My goals are the same as last week. I plan to run 25 miles, including a 10 mile long run. I'll be heading out shortly for that.

I'm not going to say anything about lost week

This week, it's back to the exercise routine, starting at Day 1 and a minumum of 4 swims (the length of those will all, hopefully, be 30 minutes, but I'll see what happens tomorrow)

All the best to everyone else, may you all reach your goals this week .

Hope the run went well, Michael. Sorry to hear about the laptop, hope you didn't lose any documents. That's one thing I fear with putting so much of my life onto the computer.

Yes, the run went well. I just got back. I did my 10 miles on the track at the local community college.

I have a program that backs up my important files on my laptop every Saturday, to an external drive, just for occasions such as this. I've learned, any computer running any Microsoft product, will break my heart many times.

so I should probably consider more seriously something similar? Whenever I fly with the laptop I back everything up onto flash drives, but I have wondered about something that is a little less dependent on *user remembering*. How does such a back up work?

The program came with an external USB drive that I bought. In the program, I select which files I want to backup, and how often, and when, I want it to run, and does it automatically every week. The same program can be used to restore those files, as well.

That'll give some focus to my wanderings around computer gadetry, thanks.

I ran another 3 miles this morning, on the treadmill.

Anyone else working out this week?

That's good news about your feet. I've been praying for you.

yes, it is great news about Sharon's feet. I hope they stay pain free.

My shoulders have been hurting. I am going to sign up for an hour massage for each one. I had this same pain last year and it took a few hours of deep tissue massage to get the knots out.

I do not find massages relaxing in the least. I know many people do, but I am too high strung to find it relaxing. So for me to schedule one is desperate. I want my full range of motion back in time for golf season.

Hi, Jenn. My heart bleeds for your shoulders. My wife has bad shoulders, and I know how painful that can be. I'm one of those who finds massages to be relaxing. I did a 15K run in December, which offered free massages at the end of the race. It was about 20 minutes, and it was awesome.

It really helped. Normally after a race like that, I will ache for two days. But the massage helped me not ache at all. I felt bad for the girls doing the massages. They start at the feet. "Take your shoes off", she says. I'm thinking, "she's gonna massage my sweaty feet?" She must have a strong stomach.
