My Cat Lover Protestant friend converted to Catholicism upon seeing "Cat"
Lol. Fussy-wussy. It is a funny true story about my friend (a nominal protestant) who was recently converted after I pointed her favorite lol animal in Baruch 6:21.
The conversion may be very shallow, childish and illogicaL, but according to my friend, seeing her favorite animal in the Bible means a lot for her. Actually, Baruch 6:21 (or in other versions, Letter of Jeremiah 1:22) speaks ironically of cats, mentioning it with the statues (idols) on which they sit on.
My Protestant friend says she found logic in the text. With the cat is a bird (and sometimes with a bat). She said cats like birds that's why they sit or are seen around the statue, which is very sensible for her when she always see her animal around her garden angel statue washbowl where birds drink their water.
Her ordinary enchantment on Baruch enabled me to explain to her the Bible Canon story of the Catholic Church, on how extreme non-catholic conservatives rejected the deuterocanonicals to suite their stand. I explained to her the authority the Church have as the sole contemplation for the scriptures, and the power to bind and loose in earth that heaven will take as a gotcha. God opened to me a gateway to make her know the history of the Biblical canon
But then again, I emphasized to her that it doesn't matter if cats are found in the Bible or not. Though a thing or a creature or a person isn't found in the scriptures, it doesn't mean that God hadn't placed it here on earth by his will and that God has no plan for it. God loves cats as he had loved people. That made her feel all right and hugged her Persian tighter.
Holy Cat! We had a cat in the Bible! That made that Holy Cat, CatHolyk.

I guess that the Lord will use whatever means available to Him to draw souls into His Church and to the Sacraments!

Then you got to look into the CATholic DOGma to get inspiration because there are not any flattering things said about dogs in the bible that I know of.
Proverbs 26:11 Like a dog that returns to its vomit Is a fool who repeats his folly.
2 Peter 2:22 It has happened to them according to the true proverb, "A DOG RETURNS TO ITS OWN VOMIT," and, "A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire."
1 Samuel 17:43 The Philistine asked David, "Am I a dog that you come to [attack] me with sticks?" So the Philistine called on his gods to curse David.
Exodus 11:7 But against any of the sons of Israel a dog will not even bark, whether against man or beast, that you may understand how the LORD makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.'
2 Sam 9:8 Again he prostrated himself and said, "What is your servant, that you should regard a dead dog like me?" (ed: let dead dogs lay?)
2 sam 16:9 Then Abishai the son of Zeruiah said to the king, "Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over now and cut off his head."
2 Kings 8:13 Then Hazael said, "But what is your servant, who is but a dog, that he should do this great thing?"
1 Sam 24:14 After whom has the king of Israel come out? Whom are you pursuing? A dead dog, a single flea?
Psalm 59:14 They return at evening, they howl like a dog, And go around the city.
Psalm 22:20 Deliver my soul from the sword, My only life from the power of the dog.
2 Sam 3:8 Then Abner was very angry over the words of Ish-bosheth and said, "Am I a dog's head that belongs to Judah
Judges 7:5 "You shall separate everyone who laps the water with his tongue as a dog laps, as well as everyone who kneels to drink
Deut 23:18 You shall not bring the hire of a harlot or the wages of a dog into the house of the LORD your God for any votive offering, for both of these are an abomination to the LORD your God.
Exod 22:31 You shall be holy men to Me, therefore you shall not eat any flesh torn to pieces in the field; you shall throw it to the dogs.
Exod 8:21 For, if thou do not let my people go, behold, I will send dog-flies upon thee, and upon thy bondmen, and upon thy people, and into thy houses; and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of dog-flies, and also the ground on which they are.
Exod 8:24 Then the LORD did so. And there came great swarms of dog-flies into the house of Pharaoh and the houses of his servants and the land was laid waste because of the swarms of insects in all the land of Egypt.
Psalm 105:31 He gave the word, and there came the dog-fly, and insects over all the land
Exod 8:31 And Jehovah did according to the word of Moses; and he removed the dog-flies from Pharaoh, from his bondmen, and from his people; there remained not one
Psalm 78:45 He sent dog-flies among them, which devoured them, and frogs, which destroyed them.
Mark 7:28 She answered him, "Lord, even the dogs under the table eat some of the children's scraps
Mathew 15:27 But even the dogs eat scraps that fall from their masters' tables
Luke 16:20-21 And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, 21 and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man’s table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores
Bad Dog

Re: My Cat Lover Protestant friend converted to Catholicism upon seeing "Cat"
Maybe that is one "unwritten" reason why the Church is called " Catholic", to emphasize that cats are recognized there.

That also proves the "heaven and earth" intuition of the Mother (church). She predicted cats will someday be familiar to man that it is illogical to not include it in scripture.

You might also mention to your friend that our beloved Pope, Benedict XVI is a noted cat lover. Makes sense to us CATholics.
