Welcome to the Inklings! Chesterton's writing is "dense" but delightful once you get into his style and thought. The easiest reading is the Father Brown Mysteries--they're also great lessons in practical Catholicism. Alas, my dh and I had to let our ACS membership go due to financial needs, but we used to go to the conferences when they were held at St. Thomas U in St. Paul, MN. We heard some of the best speakers/authors in the country--it was quite a treat.

Hello my name is Lee Kong Hian aka Bruce.
I'm from Malaysia.
I like reading fantasy novels (eg Tolkien) and playing computer role playing games (eg Ultima), and I'm going to be asking questions about these.

Hi all. My screen name is Peter J, but you can also call me Peter Jericho or just Peter. I participated a bit on the Inklings forums a few years ago, then some more recently, then I got to thinking that I never actually introduced myself.

Long time fan of Lewis and Tolkien (and Chesterton). I also like some recent fantasy/science fiction authors.

How is that?

I met Dale Ahlquist of the ACS this Valentine's Day. It was pretty interesting.

Hi I'm Annie,
I'm a fan of Chesterton and Belloc. I have a question regarding Chesterton's book WHATS WRONG WITH the WORLD. I don't know if this forum is active now or not but I thought that I'd give it a try.

Annie39-I'm sorry you haven't had a reply--I hope you'll come back, anyway. I just finished my Philosophy course, which covered Chesterton's Othodoxy among other authors, and urged me forward in my struggle with Everlasting Man. In class we discussed Chesterton and Belloc's enthusiasm for the concept of Distributism (GKC wrote three books, and strongly supported in his paper/magazine). I don't have the book WWTW?--But I think its important to understand the combined power of dreams in those days of Utopianism, Scientism, Progressivism, Utilitarianism, Reformationism, and then the crushing impact of plagues, world war, socialism, communism, depression. Even the carnage of the French Revolution seemed hopeful to some, at least at the beginning. I think today is even worse when so many people seem to have tuned out and given up.

Personally, I haven't been paying very much attention to any of the CA-Groups that I belong to (although, in the case of this thread, I'm subscribed to it, so it showed up in my User Control Panel when you posted on it).
